Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Fire Alarm Commissioning Engineer to join our technical team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the commissioning, testing, programming, and handover of Fire Alarm Systems across commercial, residential, industrial, and infrastructure projects.

The role requires strong hands-on experience with addressable fire alarm systems, knowledge of UAE Civil Defence requirements, NFPA standards, and Fire & Life Safety Code, and the ability to coordinate with project teams, consultants, contractors, and clients to deliver compliant and reliable fire alarm systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, programme and perform site commissioning of fire alarm systems, including detectors, call points, sounders, control panels, fire alarm interface modules, and ancillary equipment in accordance with project specifications.
  • Conduct site testing and verification such as detector sensitivity checks, loop continuity tests, device addressing verification, zone and cause-and-effect testing, and system functional tests.
  • Prepare and execute commissioning schedules, test procedures and checklists; produce and maintain accurate test records, punch lists and commissioning documentation.
  • Perform system configuration, programming and FAT/SAT activities for fire alarm control panels and networked systems; liaise with manufacturers for firmware and software support where required.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, wiring and communication faults during commissioning and handover phases; implement corrective actions and retest as necessary.
  • Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, MEP contractors, clients and third-party inspectors to ensure timely completion of commissioning activities and resolution of snags.
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA standards, UAE Fire & Life Safety Code and other applicable regulations and advise on best-practice solutions to meet regulatory and contractual requirements.
  • Prepare and issue commissioning reports, test certificates, inspection records and as-built documentation for client handover and statutory approvals.
  • Provide technical training and demonstrations to clients and site staff on system operation, routine testing and basic maintenance procedures.
  • Follow health & safety procedures, permit-to-work systems and site safety regulations while conducting on-site activities.
  • Support service teams with post-commissioning support, defects rectification and periodic testing as required.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong hands-on experience with fire alarm system commissioning and programming.
  • Knowledge of addressable and conventional fire alarm systems.
  • Familiarity with NFPA standards, UAE Civil Defence requirements, and Fire & Life Safety Code.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and testing skills.
  • Experience with testing equipment such as:
    • Multimeters
    • Insulation testers
    • Detector testers
  • Ability to prepare technical reports, commissioning documents, and test records.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with consultants, contractors, and project teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting ability.
  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Fire Protection, or related field.
