As a Fire Protection Technical Systems Specialist, you will conduct recurrent testing of complex, high value, mechanical and electronic fire suppression, and detection systems located in Group facilities buildings. You will provide technical support to the Safety Leadership Team and liaise with the heads of specific safety related technical disciplines within and external to the Group to ensure that EK facilities are appropriately protected.

  • Independently plan and conduct regular fire and life safety audits across facilities. Test fire protection systems (sprinklers, alarms, smoke control), document deficiencies, coordinate repairs, and verify completion. Ensure sensitive components are tested safely and all system interconnections function correctly.
  • Review architectural and engineering plans for new builds and refurbishments to ensure compliance with NFPA, local, and international codes. Assess fire protection designs and provide expert recommendations to strengthen safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Evaluate design, installation, and maintenance of fire systems including egress routes, detection, suppression, and smoke control. Conduct inspections and recommend improvements to enhance reliability, minimize disruptions, and optimize cost-efficiency.
  • Respond to fire incidents and coordinate with security, police, and civil defence. Lead investigations, document findings, and recommend preventive actions. Participate in incident reporting involving injuries or damage and provide safety input during evacuation drills.
  • Conduct post-work safety reviews and exercise authority to issue stop-work directives for unsafe or unauthorized activities. Enforce permit compliance and ensure adherence to approved safety protocols.
  • Deliver technical fire safety training for internal and external staff. Contribute to annual budgeting for tools, equipment, and training. Maintain asset inventories and maintenance priorities and liaise with civil defence and airport authorities to ensure regulatory alignment.

Qualification

To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:

  • Completed Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in fire protection, mechanical and electrical engineering technical studies as applied towards designing, installing, and maintaining fire detection and suppression systems.
  • Bring a minimum of 5 years experience in general fire protection operations, including at least 3 years specialized experience in the planning, design, installation, and maintenance of fire protection systems (including both detection and suppression systems).
  • Demonstrate knowledge of facility fire protection design standards, including the application of NFPA codes and local authority regulations across various occupancy types.
  • Be computer literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, and the ability to interpret engineering plans and drawings in PDF and AutoCAD formats.
  • Be physically fit, with the ability to lift up to 30kg, stand for extended periods, and conduct fire pump tests and fire protection system evaluations, including working at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Hold a valid UAE driving licence and be able to pass a Dubai Police background check to obtain Dubai International Airport (DXB) access.

You will have an edge if you have the following:

  • Certificates of Training from manufacturers of fire protection systems which demonstrate that technical skills have been obtain by theoretical and practical learning experiences.
  • Certificates of Training in fire protection systems design, installation, maintenance, and systems application.
  • Certificates of Training from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) demonstrating essential knowledge in fire and life safety codes and standards.
  • Demonstrate a strong background and practical application of NFPA codes and standards, with a minimum of 3 years experience adhering to widely recognised fire and life safety standards for buildings.
