Position Overview
As a Fleet Performance Engineer within our Etihad Rail Mobility's Operations and Engineering department, you will play a vital role in ensuring Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety (RAMS) performance of conventional speed passenger rolling stock. Operating in an outsourced maintenance model, and reporting to the Rolling Stock Contracts Manager, your responsibilities will include analyzing fleet data, monitoring performance metrics, and providing insights to enhance the overall operation and maintenance of our trains.
Roles and Responsibility
• Collect and analyze fleet data, including maintenance records, performance indicators, and operational statistics, to identify trends, systemic issues, and opportunities for improvement.
• Prepare regular reports and dashboards summarizing fleet performance, reliability, and efficiency metrics. Provide input to strategic asset management plans, and business cases, as required.
• Monitor the performance of individual trains and the entire fleet to ensure they meet safety and operational standards.
• Identify and investigate deviations from performance targets and recommend corrective actions.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams to plan and schedule maintenance activities based on data-driven insights and historical performance trends.
• Review OEM maintenance plans and ensure best practice is adopted, compliance is achieved, and value for money is considered.
• Assist in developing maintenance schedules that minimize downtime and maximize fleet availability.
• In conjunction with OEMs, develop reliability growth initiatives, RAMS models, and forecasts. Validate effectiveness of technical solutions.
• Identify areas where operational improvements can lead to cost savings and reduced environmental impact.
• Maintain accurate and organized databases of fleet-related information, including maintenance logs, inspection reports, performance records, warranty and defect information.
• Support in the introduction of new rolling stock, including the management and close out of snags, and defects.
• Lead or support root cause analyses for in service failures, recurring fleet issues, and other incidents, thereby contributing to the development of effective preventive measures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify process improvements and implement best practices in fleet management.
Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
Academic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
Professional Qualifications:
Relevant certifications in data analysis and/or asset management are advantageous.
Experience:
5+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in rolling stock context.
Familiarity with railway maintenance practices, safety regulations, and industry standards.
Fluent in RAMS methodologies, including FMECA and RCA
Skills and Attributes:
• Understanding of rolling stock systems (traction, braking, doors, HVAC, TCMS etc)
• Proficiency in data analysis tools and software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic operational environment.
