Job Purpose
To carry out preventive and corrective maintenance work on electricity Smart/Non-Smart energy meters, multifunction meters, and instrument transformers (related to energy meters) in MARAFIQ power transmission, distribution, generation and water production network. The position holder ensures that meters operate within the required accuracy limits as per applicable standards through regular maintenance and inspection.
Key Duties & Responsibility
- Supervise and participate in the regular maintenance, testing/calibration of energy meters to ensure continuing proper functioning; includes uninstalling meters, testing, repairing, calibrating of non-smart meters, accuracy testing for Smart Meters and re-installing; report preparation on actions taken and distribution to relevant parties. Currently there are several types of smart and non-smart meters; Non-smart direct-rated meters up to 200 AMPS; Instrument Transformer rated meters above 200 AMPS and Smart meters whole current up to 160A, CT meters up to 200A and above, CT/VT smart meters from 13.8KV and above.
- Respond to customer complaints relating to meter readings; test, repair and calibrate, replace if defective, and ascertain if meter tampering is taking place, sealing and completing reports on actions taken.
- Participate in witnessing, commissioning and testing of metering systems and accessories of new projects as per maintainability point of view.
- Supervise other related activities such as testing and calibrating/inspecting newly received energy meters; assisting in keeping spare parts lists up to date; preparing relevant reports and records; interfacing with SAP system, in coordination with Power Connection Supervisor.
- Participate in investigation of major equipment failures, preparing reports and recommending appropriate remedial action, and submit to higher level of supervision.
- Carry out periodic inspection of energy meters and monitoring equipment at sub-stations and power plants.
- Supervise & carry out of PM and CM for the CT and VT related to Instrument Transformers for the metering related to LV & MV customers and through outsources contractor for HV customers.
- Develop comprehensive spare parts lists required for preventive and corrective maintenance, and continually update them.
- Organize and supervise the activities and work of a small team of subordinates to ensure that all work within a specific area of energy metering activity carried out in an efficient and procedurally compliant manner
- Communicate the requirements of operational procedures and instructions to subordinates and monitor their adherence so that work is carried out in a controlled manner.
- Ensure that all relevant safety, quality and environmental procedures, instructions and controls are adhered to so that the safety of employees, quality of products/services and environmental compliance can be guaranteed.
- Update network metering maintenance and related activities records, safe keeping of operations manuals, work orders and notifications for future reference, making appropriate data entries into the SAP system.
- Develop and maintain required risk assessment, maintenance procedures and work instructions for all metering equipment under Marafiq Power Networks Maintenance area. Ensure these documents are accessible to maintenance crews to guide their work effectively.
- Oversee the achievement of maintenance KPIs, compliance to all relevant maintenance and operation procedures, work instructions and controls to guarantee proper maintenance for metering equipment at Marafiq Power Networks Maintenance area.
- Represent network metering section in the process of initial acceptance inspection (IAI) for metering equipment upon completion of all equipment testing and commissioning activities and ensuring alignment with department/industry standards and project requirements before signing-off.
Position Requirements
Minimum Education Requirements
• Technical Engineering Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Experience Requirements
• 6-8 years of experience in maintenance of Metering and Electrical Protection Systems in Power Utility company or a heavy industrial environment.
• 2-3 years power transmission / distribution / power plant maintenance experience.
• Experience of managing third part Maintenance service contractors.
• Experience of working in SAP Maintenance modules.
