Job Purpose

The Fund Finance Associate will play a critical role in managing the financial operations of the firm's investment funds. This position requires a detail-oriented and organized individual who can handle financial reporting, analysis, and various accounting functions related to the funds. The Fund Finance Associate will work closely with the Fund Finance Manager, portfolio managers, and other departments to support the firm's financial and operational objectives.

Key Accountabilities

  • Fund Accounting: Maintain the shadow books and records for assigned funds, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data. Perform monthly reconciliations of cash, positions, and market values between internal records and external counterparties. Assist in the calculation and review of net asset values (NAVs) for the funds and reconcile to the official books and records maintained by the external fund administrator.
  • Capital calls and distributions: Liaise with the fund administrator to produce Capital Call and Distribution Notices to send out to investors.
  • Capital Call Facility management: Produce Utilisation requests and compliance certificates for the Funds Capital Call Facility.
  • Transaction support: Coordinate with Investment Operations Team to ensure timely funding for transactions.
  • Fund expense processing: monitor incoming Fund expense invoices and ensure they are added to the accounts payable system and paid in a timely manner. Work with the treasury team to make sure new suppliers are added to the treasury management system.
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis: Assist in the review of quarterly financial statements for the Funds.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Support the development and monitoring of annual budgets and forecasts for the funds. Assist in the analysis of budget variances and financial performance against forecasts.
  • Compliance and Audit: Ensure compliance with IFRS, internal policies, Limited Partnership agreements and regulatory requirements. Assist in coordinating and supporting external audits and regulatory examinations. Maintain documentation and records in accordance with audit and compliance standards.
  • Investor Reporting: Prepare and distribute Partners Capital Account Statements and investor reports. Respond to investor inquiries and requests, providing necessary information and support.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline and improve financial and operational processes. Assist in the implementation of new systems and technologies to enhance efficiency.
  • Tax and Regulatory Filings: Assist the tax team in the preparation and filing of required tax returns and regulatory reports for the funds.
  • Review management fee and carried interest calculations for the Funds.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Professional Accounting Qualification preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in fund finance, accounting, or a related field, preferably within asset management.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, investment products, and fund structures.
  • Proficiency in fund admin/accounting software and financial management systems (e.g., Investran).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
