Purpose of the Job:
Responsible for the inspection activities required in the SASOS workshop.
- Main Duties involved but not limited to:
- Bulk Strip and Detail Strip Inspection of Gas Turbines.
- Provision of engine bulk strip and detailed defect reports.
- Carry out stage inspections during engine build.
- Controlling the workshop Control Order Files and support documentation.
- Assisting the Company Quality Assurance representative in the absence of the supervisor.
- Ensuring all measuring equipment in the workshop is approved calibrated and certified accordingly IAW the QMS manuals.
- Development and revision of workshop procedures as and when required.
- Sourcing suitable and effective alternatives to the OEM for required materials/repairs/overhauls.
- Shipping and receipt of material to and from SASOS approved vendors.
- Assist with in a timely manner the shipping and receipt of material to and from SASOS approved vendors. Progress and expedite all sub-con activity effectively.
- Obtaining the most cost effective and minimum turn time for engine material requiring repair/overhaul/replacement.
- Issuing of certificates of conformity for all materials being issued to and purchased by customers.
- Assisting with shop floor fitting duties as designated by the Charge Hand or Operations Manager.
- All other duties as relevant to the post and deemed reasonable by the Company.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
Education requirements (desirable):
- Minimum NC Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent), preferably HNC Mech. Eng.
- Where formal qualifications are not held, suitable proven experience is essential.
Job experience:
- Previous experience in a similar role
- Knowledge requirements (professional, technical, language, safety):
- Working knowledge of industrial gas turbines and/or power turbines and associated equipment
- Ability to understand and communicate illustrated parts catalogues.
- Ability to understand engineering drawings.
Competencies and behaviour required:
- Good written and verbal communication (English).
- Flexible approach, team player and ability to work independently.
- Adaptable approach, able to work independently, and function effectively as part of a team.
- Strong team player capable of working across various departments.
- Visa or work permit support can be provided for this role.
