Hitachi Energy is seeking a skilled and proactive Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Professional to develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS programs across our operations. In this role, you will contribute to improving Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) performance within the organization and help foster an exemplary safety culture.
You will support the business by applying in-depth HSE knowledge to provide effective solutions, guidance, and advice. The role also involves facilitating the delivery of support from the Centre of Expertise (CoE), driving compliance with applicable regulations and company requirements, and ensuring effective risk management through operational excellence across Hitachi Energy's value chain.

How Will You Make An Impact
The HSE Officer / Engineer is responsible for advising the project team on health and safety requirements and standards for site activities; and accountable to the Project Manager, the Engineer ensures that (including, but not limited to):
- Maintain Project HSE Plan – review and update where required.
- Maintain Project Emergency Preparedness Plan.
- Conduct HSE drills – Fire / Environmental / Rescue.
- Assist Project Manager with HSE Meetings.
- Conduct Life Saving Rules assessment as determined by Project HSE Plan.
- Conduct routine HSE inspections of the project site.
- Conduct periodic audit of Hitachi Energy's HSE Operating System.
- Review Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
- Review Subcontractor HSE Plans.
- Investigate all incidents.
- Implement corrective actions from
- Prepare and report HSE Statistics – hours / training / incidents.
- Implement HSE Operating Systems in the project
Your background
- 3-5years experience as an HSE Advisor in a high-risk industry, preferably in substation EPC jobs
- Degree/Diploma in Mech/Chemical/Civil/Environmental Engineering/Electrical/Science with additional qualification in HSE
- Professional certifications (e.g., NEBOSH IGC)
- Experience in a client-facing role is highly regarded
- A sound knowledge of the relevant Codes of Practice is essential
- Communication, presentation, and training Development and Delivery Experience.
- Experience engaging stakeholders from across all disciplines in the HSE Program.
- Experience implementing programs and policies within ISO 14001 and 45001 Certified Organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices for compliance with corporate and legislative requirements, standards, and regulations.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships and promote a harmonious safety environment.
- Ability to complete written reports and electronic communications expeditiously and with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism while in the field.
- Computer proficiency with a strong knowledge of PCs and software applications related to the work, such as MS Office, Word, Excel, SharePoint, etc.
- A valid non-probationary Driver's License.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and take action on safety-related issues, conduct root cause incident investigations, and handle both uncomfortable and sensitive situations.
