Role Overview
We are seeking a results-driven General Insurance Manager with strong expertise in underwriting, policy administration, and claims management across multiple insurance lines. This role involves leading underwriting operations, managing insurer relationships, ensuring compliance, and driving portfolio profitability and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Underwriting & Technical Oversight
- Evaluate complex risks and validate underwriting submissions
- Approve quotations and ensure sound underwriting decisions
- Provide technical guidance across Property, Liability, Engineering, Marine, Motor Fleet, and SME insurance lines
- Monitor portfolio performance, including loss ratios and renewals
2. Team Leadership & Performance Management
- Lead and mentor underwriting teams, ensuring timely delivery
- Conduct training on underwriting standards, compliance, and products
- Review proposals, comparisons, and policy documents for quality control
3. Insurer & Client Relationship Management
- Negotiate premiums, terms, and conditions with insurers
- Support sales teams in client meetings and renewal discussions
- Handle escalations related to underwriting or policy issues
4. Operational & Compliance Management
- Oversee policy issuance, endorsements, cancellations, and refunds
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, KYC norms, and documentation standards
5. Business Growth & Strategy
- Collaborate with sales teams to win new business
- Track market trends, insurer updates, and new product offerings
- Drive cross-selling, upselling, and revenue growth initiatives
