Job Description

Job Summary

The GL Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records by managing general ledger activities, preparing financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting month-end and year-end closing processes. Within a pharmaceutical environment, the role also supports inventory valuation, manufacturing accounting, regulatory compliance, and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts on a timely basis.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.
  • Perform bank, intercompany, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Review accounting transactions to ensure compliance with IFRS and company policies.
  • Monitor fixed assets, depreciation, and capitalization processes.
  • Support inventory accounting, including raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods reconciliation.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Warehouse teams to ensure accurate inventory valuation and cost recording.
  • Assist in manufacturing cost accounting and inventory variance analysis.
  • Prepare VAT, withholding tax, and other statutory reports in accordance with local regulations.
  • Support internal and external audit processes by providing required documentation and reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and pharmaceutical industry regulations.
  • Analyze financial data and identify discrepancies or unusual transactions.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance financial reporting efficiency.
  • Mentor junior accountants and review their work when required.
  • Support ERP implementation, upgrades, or finance-related system improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CMA, ACCA, or DipIFR are an advantage.

Experience

  • 5–8 years of accounting experience.
  • At least 2–3 years in a General Ledger or Senior Accountant role.
  • Previous experience within the pharmaceutical, FMCG, or manufacturing industry is highly preferred.
