EWEC drives the planning, forecasting, purchasing, and system despatch services of water and electricity. EWEC fulfils these vital responsibilities through the short-term and long-term balancing of bulk supply and demand for distribution companies and authorities in Abu Dhabi and other Emirates. We are looking to hire dynamic personnel in our team at EWEC, as a Generation Planning Engineer.

Job Specific Responsibilities:
- Liaise with internal and external bodies to assure the adequate availability of Power and Water Capacity and fuel is sufficient to fulfill Power and Water Demand, and reserves obligations while maintaining system stability and network security
- Operate the Despatch Models, Siemens unit commitment and PLEXOS models in order to meet the predicted power and water demands and further use these models for system studies and analysis
- Work as a member of the Generation planning team providing a quality control on economy of operation, security of supply and customer care perspective
- Coordinate the scheduling of generating units connected to the grid while ensuring economy of operation and security of supply
- Manage the generation in order to meet the forecast power demand, spinning reserve requirements and to coordinate with water planning and water real time to meet water demand as well
- Issue daily generation Planning Schedule (NCC NEWS) to the Power Real Time Control Engineers to provide them, in advance, with the generating units planned activities for the next day
- Issue daily strategic planning studies and cost analysis studies for reporting purposes
- Liaise with the generating stations in preparation and maintenance of the generation units and desalination plant outages program in the light of the forecasted power and water demands
Standard Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development and execution of department strategy, policies and procedures in alignment with the functional objectives considering the changing needs of EWEC
- Implement all relevant section policies, processes, and procedures so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner
- Execute the continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices considering international leading practice and changes in business environment and leveraging insights. This includes supporting the related change management efforts
- Ensure adherence to all health, safety, security and environment (HSSE) policies and requirements
- Adhere to EWEC values (including sustainability, integrity, collaboration and innovation)
- Contribute to the preparation of timely and accurate reports to meet the section requirements, policies and standards.
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum of 5-6 years of extensive experience in System Operations preferably in a:
- Diverse/ multi-cultural business industry (obtained from medium to large organization)
- Energy and utility sector
