Geo Surveyor
The Surveyor plays a critical role in bridging the gap between digital models and physical construction. This position is responsible for establishing accurate site control grids, executing the precise set-out of construction elements, and conducting comprehensive 3D laser scanning. Working closely with project teams, the Surveyor will capture, process, and integrate high-fidelity point cloud data to support as-built verification, quality control, and seamless BIM workflows.
Responsibilities
- Direct line of report to BIM Manager, Construction Manager.
Field Operations & Set-Out
- Establish, maintain, and verify primary and secondary control grids across active construction sites.
- Translate project requirements and 3D models into actionable field layout data.
- Perform precise set-out of structural and MEP elements using modern survey devices, including Robotic Total Stations.
- Conduct terrestrial and mobile 3D laser scanning to capture existing site conditions and verify as-built installations.
Data Processing & QA/QC
- Process, register, and clean 3D point cloud data using post-processing software such as Leica Cyclone Register and Leica Infinity.
- Prepare and analyse survey data for field set-out, ensuring strict alignment with federated 3D models and construction drawings.
- Export processed survey data and point clouds for integration into downstream authoring and coordination software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks).
- Conduct QA/QC checks on installed elements against the digital model to identify deviations or clashes early in the construction process.
Coordination & Project Delivery
- Attend daily and weekly meetings with clients, contractors, and internal digital engineering teams to discuss project progress.
- Generate clear, actionable reports on survey findings, site conditions, and set-out accuracy.
- Perform any other site or office duties as required by the contractor to support project delivery.

Experience And Qualifications
Education & Background
- Minimum of a Degree or Diploma in Surveying, Geomatics, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Demonstrable track record of technical surveying knowledge applied practically in a commercial construction environment.
- Valid, full driver's license and willingness to travel to various project sites.
Technical Skills
- High degree of computer literacy with a strong understanding of BIM workflows and spatial coordination.
- Proficiency in operating Total Stations and 3D Laser Scanning hardware.
- Hands-on experience with survey processing software (AutoCAD, Cyclone Register, Leica Infinity, etc.).
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
Soft Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical survey data to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven ability to work proactively on your own initiative, as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
