Position Summary
We are seeking a Geological Technician to support geoscience and engineering teams by managing, analyzing, and visualizing geological and well data to aid in hydrocarbon exploration, development, and production. This role involves data management, quality control, and data organization for our Gulf States Division.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily Management of large amounts of incoming data across multiple software platforms and departments
- Compile, quality-check, and manage geological, geophysical, and petrophysical data
- Load and maintain well logs, core data, mud logs, and production data in geological software systems
- Assist with well planning by preparing geological prognosis maps and offset well reviews
- Support reservoir characterization and prospect evaluation efforts
- Digitize and georeference legacy maps and log data
- Maintain organized digital and physical geological records
- Collaborate with geologists, geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and drilling teams
- Ensure data integrity and compliance with company and regulatory standards
Required Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Science, or related field (or equivalent technical experience)
- 2+ years of experience in oil and gas exploration or production (preferred)
- Proficiency in geological software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom, Petra, or similar platforms)
- Strong understanding of geological data and their application
- Experience working with GIS and mapping tools is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and data management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of subsurface mapping and correlation techniques
- Familiarity with drilling operations and well planning workflows
- Basic understanding of reservoir properties and hydrocarbon systems
- Strong Excel and database management skills
- Ability to interpret and digitize seismic or well data
