Role Purpose
The Geologist will support the identification, screening, and evaluation of upstream oil and gas investment opportunities across the company's New Ventures and Business Development portfolio.
This role provides subsurface expertise across exploration, appraisal, development, and producing assets, contributing to opportunity screening, technical due diligence, and investment decision-making.
The successful candidate will be capable of rapidly evaluating subsurface opportunities, integrating multidisciplinary datasets, and communicating technical insights effectively within a commercial decision-making environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate exploration, appraisal, development, and producing assets
- Screen acquisitions, farm-ins, and licensing opportunities
- Assess geological prospectivity, resources, risks, and upside potential
- Integrate geological, geophysical, reservoir, and production data
- Interpret well logs, core, and test data to evaluate reservoir properties and net pay
- Conduct volumetric estimates and uncertainty/risk analysis
- Support technical due diligence, including data room evaluations
- Provide input to field development, well planning, and production performance
- Identify key subsurface uncertainties, risks, and value opportunities
- Contribute to portfolio screening, ranking, and investment materials
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Geology or Earth Sciences (MSc/PhD preferred)
- 10+ years of upstream oil & gas experience
- Experience across exploration, development, and producing assets
- Background in new ventures or asset evaluation is an advantage

- Structural & stratigraphic interpretation
- Basin/play analysis and petroleum systems understanding
- Volumetrics and risk assessment
- Petrophysical interpretation and reservoir evaluation
- Integrated subsurface analysis
