Role Overview:
The Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for reviewing, monitoring, and ensuring the quality and compliance of all geotechnical works related to major road, highway, and bridge construction within a PMC and construction supervision environment. The role focuses on site execution, technical review, and coordination rather than design development.
Responsibilities:
- Review geotechnical investigation reports, soil parameters, and foundation design submissions for roads, highways, and bridge structures.
- Monitor site activities including excavation, backfilling, compaction, piling, and ground improvement works.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, international standards, and client (RCRC) requirements.
- Coordinate with contractors and design teams to resolve geotechnical issues during construction.
- Evaluate slope stability, embankment performance, and settlement behavior for road corridors.
- Supervise and verify field and laboratory testing (soil classification, compaction, plate load tests, etc.).
- Provide technical input for foundation systems of bridges (deep/shallow foundations, piling works).
- Review method statements, shop drawings, and material submittals related to geotechnical works.
- Identify risks related to ground conditions and propose mitigation measures.
- Prepare technical reports, site observations, and non-conformance reports (NCRs) when required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Master's in Geotechnical Engineering is preferred).
- Minimum 15 years of experience in geotechnical engineering.
- Proven experience in PMC / construction supervision projects (mandatory).
- Strong background in major roads, highways, and bridge projects (mandatory).
- Experience in the Middle East / Saudi Arabia is preferred.
- Familiarity with international codes and standards (AASHTO, BS, ASTM, etc.).
- Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, Chartered Engineer) are an advantage.
