The Ground Safety Manager is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety systems across Ground Operations and Maintenance & Engineering.
This role ensures effective risk management, investigation of safety incidents, and compliance with national and international aviation safety regulations—while promoting a strong safety culture across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement safety processes, procedures, and assurance programs aligned with the Safety Management System (SMS).
- Oversee the implementation and effectiveness of SMS across Ground Operations and Maintenance & Engineering.
- Ensure all safety reports are properly risk assessed, with corrective and preventive actions defined and monitored.
- Conduct safety risk assessments, trend analysis, and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Lead investigations into ground safety incidents and accidents to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
- Review and approve investigation reports, including corrective actions and recommendations.
- Monitor safety performance through SPIs, SPTs, and safety objectives.
- Collaborate with operational departments to address safety issues and ensure timely resolution.
- Drive safety promotion initiatives such as campaigns, workshops, briefings, and bulletins.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and external stakeholders on safety-related matters.
Requirements
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Aeronautical Science, or a related field.
- Mandatory: Safety Management System (SMS) Certification.
- Airmen certification (e.g., Aircraft Maintenance Engineer/Mechanic) is a strong advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 6 years of experience in the aviation industry.
- At least 2 years in a Safety role (Ground, Maintenance, or Engineering Safety).
