Role Summary
The Group Legal Director will lead and oversee all legal, regulatory, and governance matters across the Group's international operations. This role will act as a strategic business partner to the Board, CEO, and executive leadership, providing expert legal guidance on complex EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) projects, international contracts, risk management, and compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Group's legal function across all regions and subsidiaries, ensuring alignment with business strategy
- Provide strategic legal advice to the Board and senior leadership on high-value international EPC projects, joint ventures, PPPs, and complex commercial transactions
- Oversee drafting, review, and negotiation of major EPC contracts, subcontracts, consortium agreements, MOUs, and framework agreements
- Manage legal risk across the project lifecycle, including bid stage, execution, claims, variations, disputes, and close-out
- Lead and manage litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution (including international arbitration) in coordination with external counsels
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with external law firms, advisors, and regulatory bodies globally
- Ensure compliance with applicable international, regional, and local laws including corporate, construction, labor, and regulatory frameworks
- Oversee corporate governance, board matters, and group-level legal policies and procedures
- Support mergers & acquisitions, investments, divestments, and restructuring activities
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Group legal team, ensuring high standards of legal service delivery
- Drive legal cost optimization while maintaining quality and risk mitigation
- Represent the Group in high-level negotiations, meetings, and stakeholder engagements
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Law (Master's Degree preferred)
- Minimum 1820 years of post-qualification legal experience
- Extensive international EPC experience is mandatory
- Proven experience supporting large-scale infrastructure, construction, or engineering projects across multiple jurisdictions
- Strong background in contract law, construction law, dispute resolution, and regulatory compliance
- Demonstrated experience working in multinational or multi-country environments
- International work experience is mandatory
- Excellent English communication skills (spoken and written); additional languages are an advantage
- Strong leadership capability with experience managing senior legal professionals
- Ability to operate at Board and executive level with sound commercial judgment
