Al Douri Group is looking for a Head Accountant / Chief Accountant.
The Chief Accountant / Head of Accounting is responsible for managing the Group's accounting function, ensuring accurate financial records, strong cash flow control, banking coordination, audit management, and full compliance with UAE regulations and IFRS. The role supports FMCG trading, retail, and manufacturing operations through disciplined financial controls and timely reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Accounting & Financial Control
- Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets across all entities.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing.
- Maintain proper accounting for inventory, COGS, production costs, and landed costs.
- Review and approve journal entries, provisions, and accruals.
2. Cash Flow Management
- Prepare and monitor daily and weekly cash position reports.
- Support cash flow forecasting in coordination with management and operations.
- Ensure timely collections and controlled payments aligned with liquidity priorities.
- Monitor intercompany funding and settlements.
3. Banking, Financing & Guarantees
- Coordinate with banks and financial institutions on operational matters.
- Manage bank reconciliations, ensuring all discrepancies are resolved promptly.
- Support administration of credit facilities, overdrafts, trade finance, LC/TR, and bank guarantees.
- Track utilization of banking facilities and ensure compliance with terms and limits.
- Assist in documentation for financing renewals and new facilities.
4. Audit Coordination
- Act as the primary coordinator for external auditors, tax auditors, and bank auditors.
- Prepare audit schedules, supporting documents, and reconciliations.
- Ensure timely closure of audits and resolution of audit findings.
- Maintain audit-ready accounting records and documentation.
5. Reconciliations & Balance Sheet Integrity
- Review and approve bank, supplier, customer, inventory, and intercompany reconciliations.
- Ensure all balance sheet accounts are supported by proper schedules.
- Investigate and resolve variances and aged balances.
6. Tax & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with UAE VAT and Corporate Tax requirements.
- Review VAT returns, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Coordinate with tax consultants and auditors on regulatory matters.
7. Reporting & Management Support
- Prepare financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses.
- Provide accounting support for pricing, promotions, write-offs, and provisioning.
- Support budgeting and forecasting from an accounting and control perspective.
8. Team Leadership & Process Improvement
- Lead, supervise, and develop the accounting team.
- Establish and enforce accounting policies, SOPs, and internal controls.
- Improve accounting processes and ERP utilization to support FMCG, retail, and manufacturing operations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
- Professional qualification (CA, ACCA, CPA, CMA) strongly preferred.
- 710 years of accounting experience, with at least 35 years in a senior or head accountant role.
- Proven experience in FMCG, retail, or manufacturing environments in the UAE or GCC.
