A leading Oil & Gas group is seeking a Commercial Finance & Strategy leader to drive financial planning, commercial evaluations, and corporate development initiativesincluding M&A, joint ventures, strategic partnerships, and long-term investment decisions.
The role requires a blend of financial expertise, commercial judgement, and strategic thinking to support expansion efforts and enhance the performance of multiple business units operating across industrial and energy-aligned domains.
This position works directly with senior leadership and plays a critical role in opportunity assessment, commercial structuring, financial modelling, and shaping strategy at both operational and portfolio levels.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Strategic & Financial Planning
- Lead financial planning processes, including annual budgets, 35 year business plans, and ongoing performance reviews.
- Translate strategic direction into commercial actions and financial priorities.
- Develop and maintain integrated financial models covering forecasting, valuation, sensitivity analysis, and capital allocation.
- Present financial insights, KPIs, and performance assessments to support high-level decisions.
M&A, Joint Ventures & Corporate Development
- Lead analytical work for acquisitions, divestments, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
- Conduct financial and strategic evaluations including valuation, synergy assessments, and risk analysis.
- Prepare investment memorandums, business cases, board-level presentations, and due-diligence materials.
- Support negotiation strategies, transaction structuring, and deal execution in coordination with legal, finance, and technical teams.
- Track integration progress and post-investment performance where applicable.
Commercial Evaluations & Deal Support
- Lead commercial assessments for large opportunities, bids, and long-term contracts.
- Review commercial terms, pricing models, cost structures, and risk exposures to ensure financially sound decisions.
- Strengthen the commercial governance framework including contract standards, approval processes, and compliance.
Market, Sector & Competitive Insights
- Conduct research on sector trends, competitor activities, customer dynamics, regulatory developments, and emerging market opportunities.
- Convert market intelligence into strategic insights that inform investment choices and commercial planning.
- Support senior leadership with analytical briefs and scenario-based recommendations.
Executive Advisory & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Act as a strategic partner to senior leadership, offering clear, data-backed recommendations on investments, commercial issues, and growth initiatives.
- Support executive committees with structured analysis and decision-ready presentations.
- Foster collaboration across finance, operations, legal, technical, and corporate functions to ensure aligned execution.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong capability in financial modelling, valuation, and commercial analytics.
- Strategic mindset with experience evaluating investments, JVs, and business expansion opportunities.
- Strong understanding of commercial frameworks, pricing, contract structures, and risk assessment.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with an ability to influence at senior levels.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives.
Experience Requirements
- 15-20 years of progressive responsibility in commercial finance, corporate development, M&A, or strategy roles.
- 5-7 years in a senior managerial role within industries such as energy services, industrial projects, engineering services, or related capital-intensive sectors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering, or similar field.
- MBA or professional certifications like CFA, ACCA, CPA, or MRICS preferred.
