US Accounting Ownership. Long-Term Global Partnerships.
MAVI partners with high-growth US businesses, embedding experienced accounting professionals directly into their finance operations. In Dubai, we build long-term partnerships with senior accounting leaders who want direct US client ownership — not just offshore execution.
This is not a back-office accounting role. You will be embedded directly within US finance teams, operating as a trusted partner to US leadership.
The Opportunity
We are hiring a Head of Accounting to own the accounting function end to end for US-based IT SaaS clients. You will be the most senior accounting person in the business, accountable for the integrity of the financial statements, the discipline of the close, the strength of the control environment, and the company's readiness for audit.
You will work in lean, high-trust environments where your judgment and process ownership directly support business growth in one of the fastest-growing segments of the US tech economy.
Where a client has outgrown the processes that carried it this far — a revenue schedule maintained outside the ledger, a close held together by one person's memory, controls that exist in policy but not in practice — you will be the person who rebuilds them.
What You Will Own
- Own the full month-end, quarter-end, and annual close under US GAAP, with accountability for the calendar, the output quality, and the cycle time
- Own the financial statements — P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow — and stand behind them with leadership and auditors
- Own revenue recognition under ASC 606, including the schedules, the deferred revenue roll-forward, ARR reporting, and the judgements behind them
- Own general ledger integrity and the balance sheet, driving reconciling items to resolution rather than reporting them
- Establish and enforce accounting policies, internal controls, approval workflows, and close procedures appropriate to the client's stage
- Lead the annual audit or review end to end, including auditor management, PBC preparation, and resolution of findings
- Coordinate US tax compliance with external CPA firms and own the accounting inputs they depend on
- Own multi-entity accounting, consolidation, intercompany balances, and foreign currency translation where applicable
- Prepare the reporting packages, variance analysis, and KPI reporting that US leadership, boards, and investors rely on
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff and manage outsourced bookkeeping partners against agreed standards
- Lead ERP selection, implementation, and migration, alongside AP, expense, and close-management automation
- Build the close checklist, process narratives, and SOPs that let the function run without depending on any single individual
- Partner directly with US Controllers, CFOs, and founders on the accounting implications of business decisions
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with deep US GAAP command, including leadership and development of accounting staff
- Demonstrated ownership of the close and the financial statements on an independent basis, rather than contribution to someone else's
- Genuine depth in revenue recognition (ASC 606), deferred revenue, and recurring-revenue mechanics; ASC 842 and ASC 718 an advantage
- Background in SaaS or IT services environments strongly preferred
- Experience leading an audit or review, including direct management of external auditors through to resolution of findings
- A track record of building accounting processes and controls from the ground up, or rebuilding underperforming ones
- Substantial ERP experience (NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, or equivalent), alongside familiarity with modern finance tooling such as Ramp, Brex, Bill.com, or FloQast
- Experience with multi-entity accounting and consolidation preferred
- CPA, CA, ACCA, CMA, or an equivalent professional qualification strongly preferred
- Big 4 or comparable public accounting experience followed by industry experience preferred
- Experience at a venture-backed or PE-backed US company preferred
- Excellent English communication, with the confidence to hold the room in a leadership or audit setting
- Availability for substantial US time zone overlap
