Our Company
NymCard's mission is to enable fintech and financial innovators to launch frictionless payment programmes with our modern infrastructure, at record speed. Our open API modern card issuing platform provides flexibility and control to issue cards, authorise transactions, and manage payment operations with just one integration and one partner.
We are a team of industry experts and technology innovators who take a dynamic approach to solving complex industry challenges. NymCard has an open and collaborative work environment and together we make up the NymCardian Nation. We power possibilities for our customers and each other by bringing the best talent together to do the best quality work we can.
The Role
We are hiring a Head of Business Intelligence to build a decision system for NymCard, not a dashboard factory. You will own metric definitions end to end, but you will also build advanced analytics and automation that change how teams operate across Product, Operations, Finance, Risk, Compliance, and Fraud. This includes Python-led analytics, automated insight generation, and repeatable workflows that remove manual reporting and reduce error.
You will set the BI and analytics operating model: semantic layer, governed KPIs, data quality and freshness SLAs, and a delivery engine that ships insights quickly without breaking trust. You will partner tightly with Data Engineering, but you will personally go deep when needed, writing SQL and Python, designing analytical models, and building automations that push insights to the business at the right time.
Success looks like one set of trusted numbers, self-serve analytics that executives actually use, and automation that reduces reporting effort while improving speed and accuracy. Within 6 to 12 months, teams should make faster decisions, catch issues earlier, and run on dashboards, alerts, and metrics that hold up under audit.
What you will do
- Build the semantic layer and KPI catalogue with governed definitions, owners, and change control.
- Write and review SQL and Python for critical metrics, models, and validations.
- Deliver advanced analytics: cohort and retention, unit economics, funnel drop-offs, anomaly detection, risk signals, and performance drivers.
- Automate reporting and insight delivery: scheduled packs, alerts, and narrative summaries to Slack/Email, including threshold logic and runbooks.
- Create data quality monitoring (freshness, volume shifts, schema drift) with automated incident tickets and ownership routing.
- Build reusable analytics assets: feature tables, metric marts, experimentation readouts, and forecasting inputs for FP&A.
- Partner with Risk, Compliance, and Fraud on inspection-ready MI and automated controls reporting.
- Establish BI engineering standards: testing, version control, peer review, documentation, and dashboard lifecycle management.
- Lead team hiring and capability mix across BI engineering, analytics engineering, and advanced analytics.
What You'll Bring
- 10+ years in BI/analytics leadership with end-to-end ownership in fintech, payments, or digital banking.
- Expert SQL plus strong Python for analytics and automation (pandas, notebooks, productionized scripts, API integrations).
- Proven experience building governed metrics and a semantic layer that became the company's source of truth.
- Track record delivering advanced analytics beyond BI: segmentation, anomaly detection, forecasting inputs, churn drivers, and operational risk metrics.
- Experience building automation: scheduled insight pipelines, alerting, and self-serve tooling that reduced manual reporting workload.
- BI tools depth (Power BI/Tableau/Looker) plus data modeling and performance tuning.
- Strong stakeholder management: can align EXCO-level leaders on one set of metrics and push back with data.
- Evidence of transformation: before/after improvements in adoption, cycle time, incident rates, or reporting effort.
- Comfortable operating in regulated environments with audit-ready traceability and access controls.
Bonus Points
- Hybrid working model: In-office collaboration for design reviews, workshops, and team days, with flexible remote time for deep work. Clear expectations on core hours and availability.
- Ownership and growth: Small teams and direct access to decision makers. End-to-end responsibility for your area, support for certifications and learning, and progression based on outcomes.
- Cross-border exposure: Work with clients and partners across MENA and beyond. Gain hands-on experience with schemes, banks, and regulators, and broaden your domain expertise.
- Real product and business impact: Build for a live issuing platform used by fintechs. See measurable results on performance and revenue within weeks, and celebrate wins backed by data.
