About the Client:
Our client is one of the world's largest and fastest-growing hospitality groups, publicly listed and operating a large portfolio of hotel and apartment brands across multiple countries and territories, spanning economy to luxury segments. As the group accelerates its international growth, it is seeking a communications leader to shape its global narrative and strengthen its reputation among international media, business partners, investors, guests and industry stakeholders.
Position Summary:
The Head of International Communications will define and lead the group's communications strategy outside the Chinese mainland, serving as the senior point of accountability for international reputation, executive visibility and global media engagement. This role reports to the Chief Growth Officer and works closely with senior leadership across Shanghai and Singapore, partnering with the China Communications team to ensure a consistent corporate narrative while tailoring strategies for international audiences. This is an individual contributor leadership role supported by the China Communications team and external agency partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Corporate Communications & Reputation
- Define and own the international communications strategy, aligned with corporate priorities and business objectives.
- Lead communication plans for major corporate milestones, including quarterly earnings, strategic partnerships, international expansion, brand launches and other high-profile initiatives.
- Develop high-impact materials, including press releases, executive speeches, corporate statements, key messages, Q&A documents, fact sheets and briefing materials.
- Lead international issues and crisis communications planning, partnering with business leaders and regional teams to ensure preparedness and rapid response.
Executive Communications
- Develop executive communications strategies that strengthen the visibility, credibility and thought leadership of senior leadership.
- Drive executive positioning through international media, speaking engagements, industry forums and stakeholder platforms.
- Support executives through media counseling, interview preparation, speechwriting, keynote development and spokesperson training.
Media Relations, Storytelling & Events
- Lead the international corporate newsroom and set editorial priorities.
- Identify and develop compelling stories across hotel brands, the loyalty program, technology innovation, sustainability and international expansion.
- Build and maintain relationships with leading international business, financial, travel and hospitality media, particularly across Europe and Asia Pacific.
- Plan and execute corporate events, media activations and executive-led engagements.
- Develop integrated campaigns leveraging earned, owned and paid channels.
- Manage international PR agency partners and coordinate communications activities across regional markets.
Success Measures:
- Increased share of voice across tier-one international business, travel and lifestyle media.
- Stronger executive visibility and thought leadership in priority international markets.
- Successful execution of high-impact corporate announcements and campaigns.
- Increased international awareness of the group's loyalty program.
- Stronger recognition of the group as a leading global hospitality company.
- Enhanced visibility of sustainability and corporate responsibility initiatives.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in corporate communications, media relations, public affairs, journalism or communications consulting (in-house or agency).
- Proven experience developing and executing international communications strategies for a global organization.
- Demonstrated experience advising C-suite executives and supporting high-profile executive communications and media engagements.
- Established media and stakeholder network across Europe and/or Asia Pacific.
- Experience planning and delivering corporate or media events.
- Excellent editorial judgment and English writing skills, with the ability to translate complex business priorities into compelling narratives.
- Experience managing high-profile announcements, strategic partnerships and issues or crisis communications.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders across multiple locations.
- Professional-level English required; ability to read Mandarin Chinese preferred.
- Experience with a publicly listed company is strongly preferred; hospitality, travel, luxury or lifestyle industry experience is a plus but not required.
- Must have existing work authorization in Singapore or Hong Kong; visa sponsorship is not available.
