Edenthrope Search are seeking an experienced Head of Compliance to lead a compliance function based in Dubai. This role will be responsible for overseeing all regional compliance activities while supporting global initiatives. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements across both crypto and traditional banking environments.
This position requires fluency in Mandarin Chinese (reading and speaking) to support cross-border operations and regulatory engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the compliance function in Dubai, ensuring full regulatory adherence
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures
- Ensure compliance with UAE regulatory requirements as well as international standards (AML, KYC, CTF, sanctions)
- Act as the key point of contact for regulators, auditors, and external stakeholders
- Monitor and interpret regulatory developments in both crypto and banking sectors
- Oversee compliance risk assessments, monitoring, and reporting processes
- Collaborate with global teams to align regional and international compliance strategies
- Provide compliance guidance to business units, including product, operations, and partnerships
- Build and lead a high-performing compliance team
Requirements
- 8–12+ years of experience in compliance within banking, financial services, or cryptocurrency
- Proven leadership experience in a Head of Compliance or senior compliance role
- Strong knowledge of UAE regulatory frameworks and international compliance standards
- Experience across both traditional banking and crypto/digital assets is essential
- Fluency in Mandarin Chinese (reading and speaking) and English is required
- Strong understanding of AML, KYC, sanctions, and financial crime compliance
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, cross-border environment
