Summary
The Head of Consumer Products will be responsible for developing, delivering, and enhancing the full suite of consumer banking products and services. This role will lead product innovation and portfolio management across Consumer Products, ensuring alignment with customer needs, market trends, and regulatory frameworks. The incumbent will drive product strategy, digital transformation, and profitability while ensuring compliance and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Consumer Product Strategy & Portfolio Management
- Conceive, develop, and launch innovative retail banking products (deposits, cards, loans, digital banking, insurance partnerships, etc.) tailored to customer needs.
- Own the end to end consumer product lifecycle: ideation, feasibility analysis, development, launch, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Develop short- and long-term consumer product roadmaps, integrating digital features and evolving customer expectations.
- Conduct product P&L management, cost/revenue analysis, and business case evaluations to maximize profitability.
Market & Regulatory Alignment
- Monitor UAE/GCC consumer banking market trends, customer behavior, and competitor offerings to ensure market relevance.
- Ensure products comply with CBUAE regulations and respond proactively to evolving regulatory changes.
Digital Transformation
- Lead digitization of consumer products to drive efficiency, innovation, and customer adoption.
- Collaborate with Technology and Operations to deliver seamless mobile banking, web interfaces, and omni-channel experiences.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Marketing, Operations, Technology, and Sales to ensure successful product development and delivery.
- Lead governance processes such as consumer product committees, business reviews, and risk forums.
Risk & Control Environment
- Maintain a robust consumer product governance framework, ensuring regulatory compliance and risk mitigation.
- Represent the consumer product function during regulatory inspections, audits, and senior management reviews.
Customer-Centric Approach
- Collate customer insights, segmentation analysis, and feedback to shape product enhancements and service delivery.
- Drive customer-centric initiatives that improve accessibility, satisfaction, and loyalty.
- Leadership & People Development
- Provide strategic leadership to the Consumer Products team, managing resources, mentoring staff, and driving performance excellence.
- Develop and implement consumer product marketing, branding, and go-to-market strategies in line with organizational goals.
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
- Deep expertise in consumer/retail banking products (cards, loans, deposits, digital channels).
- Strong understanding of customer needs, behavioral trends, and retail banking dynamics in the UAE/GCC.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks applicable to consumer banking.
- Strong business acumen with expertise in P&L management, pricing, and profitability optimization.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Analytical, innovative, and customer-focused mindset.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Economics, Finance, or related field from a reputable university.
- Professional certification in Product Management (preferred).
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree is an advantage.
Experience
- 12 - 15 years of experience in Consumer Product Management within the Banking and Financial Services sector.
- Proven track record in developing and launching retail banking products and driving digital transformation.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing cross-functional teams and large-scale consumer product portfolios.
