The project:

The role is a to lead and grow our Cost and Commercial Consultancy service offer in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). It is a full-time position based in KSA you will be based in our Riyadh / Client office and will be expected to work across the Kingdom leading the core team on the ground but supported by the Specialist Knowledge Hub based in the UAE. This key position in the Middle East & Africa Cost and Commercial Consultancy team will further develop and define the Mace Cost and Commercial offering across the Kingdom.

The role will help position us as a leading cost and commercial consultancy practices and help bring together our approach, our people, our data and our specialist knowledge of asset classes and infrastructure.

Mace is looking to recruit an experienced leader that can demonstrate a successful track record of leading and growing our service offer in a difficult and challenging market. The way we deliver is very much one of being a proactive member of the project/client team and therefore we are looking for the leader to embody and promote this can do approach.

The Head of Cost and Commercial - KSA, will be expected to fully embrace the Mace culture and the proactive approach to our service delivery. Exceptional performance on projects is considered the key to repeat business and the ability to form strong relationships at the highest level will be considered an essential attribute.

Communication and Leadership skills are vitally important, in terms of interacting both with Clients, the Senior Leadership Team and the in-country Cost team. A key skill we are looking for is your ability to build strong relationships both externally and internally.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Provide leadership to both our clients and the in-country cost and commercial teams and be the face of Mace with all KSA clients in relation to Cost Consultancy.

  • Develop new and existing client relationships and opportunities.

  • Develop and maintain a consistent pipeline of new opportunities.

  • Support and grow our existing teams delivering cost management as well as commercial services within our Major and Giga programmes.

  • Set up systems for supporting our teams in the delivery of a number of contract administration roles, specifically overseeing and dispensing our roles under the FIDIC engineer.

  • Recruit, train and develop highly technical people to support the goal of technical excellence.

  • Promote effective communication both within the team and with clients.

  • Manage and liaise with the Regional Head of Cost Consultancy to agree the in-country strategic direction for Cost Consultancy.

  • Accountable for QAQC of the team deliverables and ensuring that best practice is implemented, whilst working closely with the Specialist.

  • Knowledge hub to make sure that we work in a smart and efficient manner.

  • Promote the RICS internally and externally and actively encourage and support training and development of the team to reach Chartered status.

  • Prepare bids in conjunction with the bid team to showcase our capability and lead the presentation of our proposed offer to clients.

  • Accountable for briefing the team on scope and ensuring that roles and responsibilities are clearly understood.

  • Delegate tasks to the lowest levels possible to drive a culture of empowerment and responsibility.

  • Be an active participant in the Middle East Cost Consultancy Senior Leadership Team.

  • Support and sustain Mace's core values and culture.

  • Promote the highest standards of safety, health and wellbeing across the team.

You'll need to have:

  • Necessary visa criteria for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and have relevant work experience working on high valued projects/ programmes for a project management consultancy business, which are required for immigration and client approval.

  • Proven track record of leading a Cost Consultancy team within an internationally recognised Practice

  • Proven track record of delivering a commercial management role at director level

  • developing a [an enviable] KSA-centric cost database for use across our programs.

  • knowledge of EXPRO in terms of Stage Gate business case cost estimation process (needed for government clients)

  • Strong ability for achieving growth with a key focus on pipeline generation and conversion

  • Proactively looks for ways to add value to our service offer

  • Strong core technical Cost Consultancy backgroundwho can demonstrate a high degree of repeat business from clients

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence internally and externally

  • Has the ability to build high performing teams, can inspire and motivate others and act as a mentor

  • Demonstrates self-motivation, ability and the drive to succeed

  • Promotes a team culture that is both proactive and positive

  • Demonstrates high levels of professional integrity and demands the same from the team

  • Possesses the confidence and presence to articulate our deliverables to a wide variety of clients

  • Organised and structured with a high attention to detail

  • Has the ability to plan and delegate in order to achieve high quality standards in short timescales

  • Establishes processes and procedures that are easy for the team to understand

  • Will be part of the Cost Consultancy Middle East & Africa leadership team and therefore must be eager to contribute fresh ideas on strategy, business planning, technical delivery that challenge the normal

  • Can demonstrate a high level of academic achievement and personal development

  • Can demonstrate being an active member of the RICS and someone who champions obtaining this professional qualification

  • Understands contract documents, warranties, bonds and licenses preparation ensuring formal execution by the appropriate parties.

  • Capable of full accountability for the issuing of valuation projects.

  • Capable of delivering monthly post-contract cost reports for presentation to stakeholders.

  • Capable of overseeing and evaluating delay/additional costs claims.

  • Experience of overseeing the issue of issuing of practical completion / taking over certificates ensuring accounts are negotiated and agreed

  • Leads the implementation of a systematic performance improvement cycle to continually improve the quality of (i.e. area).

  • Manages team/s providing mentoring and guidance, direction and coaching.
