Title: Head of Credit (UAE National)

About the Client
Our client, a leading bank in Abu Dhabi, is seeking a senior credit leader to head the Corporate Credit function within its Wholesale Banking Group. The role will focus on overseeing credit approvals, portfolio quality, transaction structuring, and leading a high-performing credit team while ensuring alignment with the bank's risk appetite and strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the corporate credit function, overseeing credit approvals, structuring, and underwriting of complex corporate transactions
- Monitor portfolio quality, ensuring early identification of risks and proactive mitigation actions in line with credit policies
- Review and guide credit applications to ensure high-quality standards, accuracy, and compliance with internal frameworks
- Partner with coverage, product, and risk teams to support transaction structuring and client engagement on risk-related matters
- Oversee team performance, capability development, and efficient resource allocation while maintaining governance and policy adherence
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance or related field; MBA in Finance preferred
- Minimum 15 years banking experience, including at least 5 years in senior credit or credit leadership roles
- Strong expertise in corporate credit underwriting, structuring, and portfolio risk management
- Proven experience working with senior stakeholders and Credit Committees in a banking environment
- Strong leadership, analytical, and team development skills with deep knowledge of credit policies and governance frameworks
