Job Description
Head of Department – Emergency Medicine
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Department – Emergency Medicine to lead our Emergency Medicine team and oversee the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred emergency care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for the Emergency Medicine Department.
- Lead and develop a high-performing multidisciplinary clinical team.
- Oversee emergency patient assessment, stabilisation, treatment, and appropriate disposition.
- Ensure efficient patient flow, departmental staffing, and operational coverage across all shifts.
- Drive clinical governance, patient safety, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.
- Monitor departmental KPIs, clinical outcomes, patient experience, and service performance.
- Ensure compliance with DOH, JCI, ISO, infection control, patient safety, and organisational standards.
- Manage clinical incidents, complaints, risks, audits, and corrective actions effectively.
- Support recruitment, credentialing, performance management, training, and professional development of departmental staff.
- Collaborate with hospital leadership and other departments to enhance patient care and service delivery.
- Represent the department in clinical, operational, and hospital management meetings.
- Lead emergency preparedness and support disaster and mass-casualty response planning.
- Perform Consultant-level clinical duties in accordance with approved privileges and scope of practice.
- Carry out other responsibilities as assigned by senior management.
Ideal Candidate:
- Board-certified/recognised Consultant in Emergency Medicine with relevant leadership experience.
- Strong clinical governance, people management, and operational leadership skills.
- Excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety, quality improvement, and excellent patient experience.
