About the Role

Dispute resolution: strategically manage all litigations and/or arbitrations handled by outside counsel by determining major defense strategies, align management and biz owners of potential risks. Furthermore, the head is responsible for identifying major trends in disputes and work with different departments to correct any procedures/actions that cause such trends.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that a more efficient external firm's management is applied through the maximization of the external lawyers value and reducing costs.

• Recognize the departmental core capabilities (and constraints), enabling optimal utilization of outside counsel.

• Convergence of legal work, accompanied by multi-year partnering agreements, legal project management and alternative fee arrangements.

• Provide strategic and operational guidance, aiding the leadership in the management of litigation issues. In this capacity, he/she instructs and assists external legal partners where necessary identifying potential legal risks and assessing the issues influencing legal risk, which ensures that all of the business's risk management approaches are viable.

• Conduct legal research in various branches of law. Compile, track record of various legal exposures and research and share the same with all legal staff to expound and propagate knowledge and share experience.

• Liaise and lead in negotiations with third parties and their legal advisers on matters connected with the company's projects, operations and disputes.

• Manage a quarterly Disputes reporting to the Group and handle internal needed reporting when needed to the top management.

• Safeguard the company's interests and rights by ensuring that all corporate activities adhere to the applicable Egyptian laws and complying with the NTRA directives;

• Manages legal risk within the business by taking responsibility for providing legal advice to the business's leadership and different stakeholders on all legal matters affecting their individual departmental transactions.

• Examines and advises on new laws and regulations for different stakeholders and their potential impact on the business.

• Works with departmental leadership and key stakeholders in Technical, IT and Enterprise Security in overseeing and ensuring legal compliance of the company's Cybersecurity program, maintaining the business's integrity both internally and externally (reputational risk).

• Leading, organizing, monitoring and coordinating the initiation and implementation of a Cybersecurity program in compliance with local laws, esp. the newly Egyptian Cyber Crimes law and CERT/NTRA requirements

• Manages and advises on all legal aspects of the company's relationship with different regulatory and governmental bodies.

• Acts as the major point of contact for regulatory teams in the company and works with them on resolving/negotiating any potential disputes and or penalties with such regulatory and governmental bodies.

• Ensures that all allegations of legal misconduct are reported and investigated in collaboration with the Investigations team in a timely manner in an attempt to maintain integrity within the business.

• Supervise and participate (as the case maybe) in investigating violations for the company's policies, rules and regulations and to contribute to continuous improvement.

• Seeks opportunities for organizational improvement and motivate subordinates to develop better ways of handling their workflows, products/services, processes and daily tasks through:

• Create a newly digitalized archiving and documents management tool/platform to ensure efficient workflow and time management as well as securing the best interest of the company and eliminating human error factor.

Set an internal/external customer oriented strategic goals for the team. Operational Excellence: Ensures high quality-dedicates required time and energy to assignments or tasks to ensure that no aspect of the work is neglected; guide to overcome obstacles to completing tasks or assignments delivering high quality output. • Manages and supervises different activities of the team.

• Monitors and evaluates the team activities and prepare initial assessment Report or performance evaluation scores of all the team members and review and discuss the same with LD.

• Cascade & communicate action plans, motivates and empowers and coach team's members to achieve best results.

• Ensure clear understanding and compliance of team members to Etisalat policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • University Degree in Law.
  • Very good Computer skills.
  • Excellent in Arabic & English (Reading, Writing & Oral).
  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to understand complex legal concepts and analysis and translate those to non-lawyers to create practical processes, guidance and training.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, growth-oriented global or regional organization.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to work through challenging situations.
  • Strategic thinking.
  • Enjoy exceptional good problem solving skills and be highly adaptable and flexible.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
