Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute the engineering and applications strategy aligned with the company's overall goals and objectives.
- Provide visionary leadership to the engineering team, inspiring and motivating them to achieve excellence in their work.
- Drive innovation and identify opportunities to leverage new technologies and methodologies to enhance product development and delivery.
Team Management:
- Lead a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Set clear goals and expectations for the team, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Mentor and develop team members, providing guidance and support in their professional growth.
Product Development:
- Lead the end-to-end product development process, from concept to launch, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and quality assurance, to define product requirements and ensure seamless integration.
- Foster a customer-centric approach, gathering feedback and insights to drive product enhancements and innovation.
Technical Excellence:
- Drive engineering excellence and best practices across the organization, ensuring efficient and scalable development processes.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, evaluating their potential impact on the company's products and services.
- Implement quality assurance measures and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain high standards of software development.
- Manage the infrastructure spend (AWS/Azure/GCP cloud costs), software licensing, and other related engineering costs
Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborate with senior executives, product managers, and other stakeholders to align engineering initiatives with business objectives.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, providing updates on project status, timelines, and risks.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with technology partners and vendors.
Architecture, Security &Compliance Technical governance:
- Making final high-level architectural decisions, managing technical debt, and ensuring systems are scalable and resilient.
- Security posture: Overseeing data privacy, cybersecurity protocols, and vulnerability management.
- Compliance standards: Ensuring the engineering department adheres to relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC2, ISO 27001)
Metrics & Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Delivery metrics: Measuring team velocity and efficiency using relevant frameworks (Deployment Frequency, Lead Time for Changes, MTTR, Change Failure Rate).
- System metrics: Holding the team accountable for system uptime, Service Level Objectives (SLOs), and incident response.
Experience
- Total experience: 10-12+ years in software engineering or a related technical field.
- Leadership experience: 5+ years of direct people management experience, including managing engineering managers or team leads.
Required Skill Sets (Non-Negotiable)
- Architectural oversight: Deep understanding of modern, distributed system design, cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure), and microservices architecture.
- Agile delivery: Expert knowledge of modern software development lifecycles, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks.
- Strategic translation: Proven ability to translate high-level business goals into concrete technical roadmaps and execution plans.
- People development: Strong track record of mentoring team leads, managing low performance, and building healthy, low-attrition team cultures.
- Crisis management: Experience leading incident responses (P1/P0 outages) and conducting blameless post-mortems.
- Enterprise integration scale: Architecting and scaling robust platforms that seamlessly integrate with complex enterprise client ecosystems (e.g., healthcare systems, ERPs, IAM/SSO providers).
Preferred Skills Set (Nice to Have)
- Domain expertise: Deep familiarity with Health Tech, AI/ML verticals.
- Compliance champion: Hands-on experience securing technical certifications like SOC2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, or GDPR.
- High-availability architecture: Expertise in designing scalable, fault-tolerant, multi-tenant SaaS architectures with 99.9%+ uptime.
- Enterprise security: Deep understanding of application security practices, data encryption, and secure coding standards (OWASP).
- Global management: Experience managing remote, hybrid, or geographically distributed teams across different time zones.
