Head of English Department - National School

Role Description The Head of English Department – National School will lead the English faculty, oversee curriculum delivery, and ensure high-quality teaching and learning outcomes across all grade levels. This full-time, on-site role based in Qesm El Obour includes planning and updating the English curriculum, setting teaching standards, and aligning department practices with school-wide academic goals. The role involves coaching and mentoring English teachers, conducting classroom observations, organizing professional development, and supporting recruitment and onboarding of new department members. The Head of Department will monitor student performance data, coordinate assessments, and collaborate with school leadership to implement improvement plans and educational initiatives. Additional responsibilities include managing departmental resources, communicating with parents and guardians when needed, and promoting an engaging, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
Qualifications

• Strong foundation in English Teaching and Education, with demonstrated experience in classroom instruction and academic leadership.
• Deep knowledge of English Literature and contemporary language teaching methodologies.
• Recognized as a Qualified Teacher, with appropriate teaching credentials and certifications.
• Proven expertise in Curriculum Development for English programs within national school frameworks.
• Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field; a master's degree or equivalent postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
• Experience leading an academic department or team, including performance management and teacher development.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with school leadership and staff.
• Commitment to student-centered, inclusive education and continuous improvement of teaching practices.
• Experience in national school systems in Egypt or the region is preferred.
