Head of Instrumentation

We are conducting a search on behalf of a leading top tier EPC contractor for an experienced Head of Instrumentation to lead the instrumentation engineering function across major upstream offshore Oil & Gas projects.

Role Overview:

This is a senior departmental leadership position, responsible for the overall technical quality, engineering standards and delivery of instrumentation engineering activities across multiple projects. The successful candidate will provide technical and managerial leadership across the department, with oversight from concept selection through detailed design for offshore fixed-facility developments including jackets, platforms and topsides.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and coordinate the Instrumentation Engineering department across multiple live offshore projects
• Provide leadership to Project Section Leaders, Technical Managers, Principal Engineers, Lead Engineers and Instrumentation Engineers
• Hold oversight and signature authority across instrumentation engineering work and deliverables
• Ensure the quality, technical integrity and consistency of instrumentation engineering design output
• Oversee instrumentation scope from concept selection through detailed design
• Support major upstream offshore fixed-facility projects, including jackets, platforms and topsides
• Liaise with Supply Chain and suppliers on technical queries and procurement-related instrumentation matters
• Work closely with Construction leadership to ensure engineering design intent is carried through to execution readiness
• Drive continuous improvement in engineering quality, technical standards and departmental performance
• Provide strong technical guidance and managerial leadership across the instrumentation discipline

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics or a related Engineering discipline
• Minimum 15 years of instrumentation engineering experience
• Minimum 5–7 years of experience at managerial/leadership level
• Strong background within Oil & Gas upstream offshore engineering
• Extensive experience with fixed offshore facilities, including jackets, platforms and topsides
• Strong knowledge of instrumentation engineering across concept, FEED and detailed design stages
• Experience working within a multidisciplinary EPCI engineering environment
• Technical exposure to Honeywell DCS and SCADA systems
• Proven ability to lead large engineering teams and maintain high standards across multiple projects
• Experience supporting major national and international Oil & Gas operators in the GCC would be highly advantageous
