Job Description

Job Purpose:


Assist in running all corporate and commercial aspects to provide expert and strategic legal advice to management in setting internal governance policies. Deal with complex, significant corporate and commercial matters that cut across legal areas to guide the Senior Management and stakeholders to navigate the Group safely around areas of legal risk in its business.

Lead corporate and advisory support function to all BUs.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Advisory: Lead the corporate advisory function to provide advice and provide consultation in business transaction matters on day to day issues that require legal assistance including interpreting Laws, rulings and regulations.


  • Contract: Effectively draft and lead negotiations of contracts for all internal clients to minimize risk and legal implications and maximize legal rights for the group. Review status of laws and regulations to ensure legal contracts and agreements are in line with the existing laws/regulations.


  • Dispute & Settlement: In the absence of the Head of Litigation and/or as per the business needs, handle various types of litigation to successfully defend and settle. Pursue all Group’s legal cases and disputes before courts, arbitration and amicable settlements to protect Group's image and interests. Support the legal counsel in difficult and formidable cases.


  • Policy & Procedures: Participate in the development of policies and standard operating procedures to coordinate the legal engagements with senior management, internal clients and external counsels.


  • New legislations: Oversee and support the legal team with current status of law by investigating gaining insight with the regulatory bodies.


Qualifications, Experience & Skills:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in law. Master’s degree in law is an added advantage.
  • Compliance certificate is preferred.
  • 12 years of minimum experience in commercial and corporate law practice,
  • 5 years of minimum experience on Managerial level in UAE.
  • Experience in civil, corporate, commercial, agency, labour, corporate and construction laws.
  • Excellent command of written & spoken Arabic & English.
  • Ability to lead others
  • Research & Negotiation skills
  • Drafting of contracts experience
