Job Purpose :
To lead, plan, direct, and continuously improve all port operational activities to ensure safe, secure, efficient, compliant, and uninterrupted operations. The role is responsible for operational performance, coordination with terminal operators and government authorities, operational compliance with applicable rules and regulations, contractor control, and overall operational excellence, in alignment with strategic objectives, legislative requirements, and local and international standards.
Accountabilities :
- Lead and direct all port operational activities to ensure safe, efficient, compliant, and uninterrupted operations.
- Develop and execute the operations strategy and annual plans in alignment with overall business objectives.
- Ensure effective coordination with terminal operators, government authorities, regulators, and other key external stakeholders.
- Drive operational excellence, continuous improvement, and service reliability across all operational areas.
- Oversee operational risk, regulatory compliance, and contractor performance to protect people, assets, operations, and the environment.
- Ensure operational readiness, business continuity, and the effective deployment of resources to support ongoing and 24/7 operations where required.
- Lead the planning and control of the departmental budget, resources, and operational performance to achieve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Provide leadership to the operations function through performance management, capability building, and team development.
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timely reporting of operational and terminal performance data, and lead the automation of reporting processes.
- Advise senior management on operational performance, key risks, emerging issues, and improvement opportunities.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline; Master's degree preferred.
- 12–15 years of experience in port, terminal, marine, or complex operations, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
- Strong background in operational leadership, regulatory compliance, government liaison, and contractor management.
- Solid knowledge of port operations, HSSE, risk management, and service continuity.
- Strong leadership, strategic planning, budgeting, stakeholder management, and crisis management capabilities.
