Job Description

Location: Dubai, UAE (with significant international mobility)

Sector: Energy Infrastructure & Large-Scale Logistics

Seniority: Finance Director / Project CFO (15+ years experience)

A prominent, privately-held international energy infrastructure group is seeking a high-caliber Finance Director to lead the financial architecture for its expanding portfolio of large-scale infrastructure projects. With active development across multiple high yield geographies, the firm focuses on the deployment of complex, capital-intensive assets. Operating in a lean, executive-led environment, this role offers the autonomy to build financial structures for 1B+ USD projects and direct accountability to the C-suite.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Finance Architecture: Lead the end-to-end financial structuring for large-scale energy projects. Design and execute SPV/Project Company setups, including the ringfencing of assets to manage risk and optimize capital allocation.

  • Capital Structuring & Debt Management: Manage the debt-equity mix for major developments. Engage with lenders, structure non-recourse project finance, and oversee the financial close of multi-hundred-million-dollar deals.

  • Operational Financial Leadership: Act as the Project CFO for designated project entities. Oversee the full financial lifecycle from the development/construction phase through to long-term operational and revenue-generating stability.

  • Risk & Compliance: Implement rigorous financial governance frameworks across multi-jurisdictional environments (specifically focusing on emerging markets). Ensure compliance with international reporting standards and lender requirements.

  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Serve as the primary finance liaison between technical, legal, and operational project teams. Work closely with external financial/tax advisors to manage complex joint venture agreements.

  • Reporting & Strategy: Deliver high-level financial analysis and performance metrics to the board and internal stakeholders, providing the narrative that drives future project investment.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience: 15+ years of progressive finance experience in the energy, infrastructure, or large-scale EPC sectors. Proven track record in managing project-level financials for assets exceeding 200M+ USD.

  • Technical Competence: Expert-level mastery of project finance, financial modeling, treasury management, and corporate structuring. Deep understanding of multi-currency, multi-jurisdiction project accounting.

  • Project Execution: Direct experience in taking large-scale energy or infrastructure projects from Financial Close through to the operational phase.

  • Commercial Mindset: Ability to balance complex financial structuring with the operational realities of working in challenging, emerging-market environments.

  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication. Must be capable of representing the firm in high-stakes negotiations with external lenders, equity partners, and government stakeholders.

  • Personality & Mindset: Entrepreneurial and hands-on. Comfortable working in a lean environment where taking direct ownership is expected. Culturally adaptable and resilient.

  • Mobility: Willingness to be based in Dubai or Europe, with an appetite for significant travel and potential relocation to project sites in Africa to ensure on-the-ground financial oversight.

  • Education: Strong academic background in Finance, Economics, or Engineering. Professional certifications (CFA, ACCA, CPA) are highly desirable.
