Head of Sales and Account Management Egypt

The British Council is seeking an experienced and driven Head of Sales and Account Management for Egypt, based in Agouza, Egypt. In this pivotal role, you will support the development and implementation of our sales strategy while leading a high-performing team of Account Managers to achieve annual business-to-organisation (B2O) targets and key performance indicators (KPIs). You may also take responsibility for managing key accounts and leading on high-value opportunities within your territory.

Your main accountabilities will include contributing to and helping implement the country sales and account management strategy to achieve B2B business targets. You will ensure that all key accounts managed by your team have an annual plan and targets, and will work closely with country and regional marketing teams to develop and execute marketing plans that support sales objectives. Monitoring a pipeline of new business and existing accounts will be essential to ensure the team remains on track to deliver annual targets.

As a leader, you will provide direction and support to the Account Manager team within the B2O Sales Partnerships function, monitoring targets, performance, and resourcing to ensure KPIs are met. You will line-manage the Account Management and Customer Success teams, each responsible for their own portfolio of accounts, with a focus on developing bids, closing opportunities, and retaining and growing customer relationships. Acting as a mentor, you will help your team identify, close, and retain business, particularly with key accounts, and ensure new staff are effectively onboarded and receive the training and development they need to meet global standards. You will coordinate internal and external resources to deliver services efficiently and to the required quality standards.

In business development, you will manage a pipeline of new qualified opportunities, both individually and across your team. You will develop compelling bids and proposals, drawing on expert support as needed, and may act as project manager for large opportunities. Negotiating commercial terms with customers, identifying and pursuing growth opportunities, and retaining at-risk accounts will be part of your remit.

Commercial and financial management responsibilities include negotiating contracts within agreed margins. You will also maintain positive relationships with key accounts and internal teams, working collaboratively to deliver excellent customer experiences and resolve issues as they arise. Cross-functional alignment and collaboration with other internal leads will be critical to your success.

You will support the global sales operating model by ensuring compliance with standard business processes and data governance requirements. Effective management of CRM workflows and other business processes will be expected, with a focus on data quality and accuracy. You will use data from CRM and other tools to monitor the sales effectiveness of your team, address areas of loss, and drive continuous improvement for our Schools and English & Exams business streams. Ensuring accurate client data management and providing data-driven insights on sales and retention will also be key aspects of your role.

To be considered for this role, you must demonstrate excellent written and verbal proficiency in English (minimum C2 level), hold a university degree or equivalent in a relevant field, and possess high-level sales and negotiation skills. Strong stakeholder management, project management, and people management abilities are essential, as is proficiency in Microsoft Office programs. You should have at least four years of sales experience, including B2B sales, experience managing a team, and familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms. Experience or knowledge of the Egyptian education landscape is also required.

Desirable qualifications include solution-sales experience in large sectors such as education, financial services, media, pharmaceuticals, tourism, or government, as well as B2B marketing experience and relevant sales or marketing qualifications. Proficiency in the local language at C2 level for speaking and writing is also an advantage.
