GEMS - TBS (The British School El-Rehab) are seeking an experienced
Head of Science to lead and develop our Science Department. The successful candidate will provide strategic vision, lead a team of science teachers, and ensure high-quality teaching.
Important note: The position is based in Cairo, Egypt, and candidates must be in Egypt or are willing to relocate.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and inspire the Science Department to achieve excellence
- Develop and implement a curriculum in line with the British Curriculum
- Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning across the department
- Support teachers with lesson planning, assessment, and professional development
- Promote innovative teaching strategies and the use of laboratory resources
- Ensure a safe, well-organized, and stimulating learning environment
- Prepare students for internal and external examinations (IGCSE, A-Level, or equivalent)
- Contribute to whole-school initiatives, events, and extracurricular activities
Requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Science or Science Education (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or related)
- Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent)
- Minimum 4 years teaching experience in a secondary school, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
- Experience teaching IGCSE/A-Level Science preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Passion for science and student development
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
- Willingness to relocate to Cairo, Egypt
