The Head of Tax is responsible for leading and overseeing the company's overall tax function, ensuring full compliance with Egyptian tax laws and regulations. The role includes supervising tax filings, managing relationships with the Egyptian Tax Authority, leading tax audits, and providing strategic and operational tax guidance to senior management.
Strong prior experience in a Tax Firm is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Leadership & Oversight
Lead and oversee all tax-related activities of the company
Ensure the company's tax position is compliant, accurate, and aligned with local regulations
Act as the tax subject-matter expert for management and internal stakeholders
Tax Compliance & Filing
Oversee the preparation, review, and submission of all tax returns, including:
Corporate Income Tax
Value Added Tax (VAT)
Withholding Tax
Payroll Taxes
Ensure all filings are completed accurately and submitted within statutory deadlines
Monitor changes in Egyptian tax laws and assess their impact on the company
Tax Authority & Audits
Serve as the primary liaison with the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA)
Lead tax audits, inspections, and examinations
Review audit findings, manage negotiations, and prepare responses and objections when required
Follow up on tax settlements, appeals, and disputes
Advisory & Risk Management
Review contracts, agreements, and major transactions to ensure proper tax treatment
Provide tax advice to senior management on business decisions and operational matters
Identify tax risks and exposures and recommend practical mitigation actions
Reporting & Documentation
Ensure proper maintenance of tax records, documentation, and correspondence
Review and present periodic tax reports to management
Ensure all tax files are well-organized and audit-ready
Process Improvement
Improve tax processes, controls, and internal procedures
Coordinate with finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate tax data and reporting
Support automation and system improvements related to tax reporting (ERP is a plus)
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Commerce (Accounting or Finance)
7+ years of overall tax experience, including strong hands-on exposure
Previous experience in a tax firm is highly preferred
Proven experience dealing directly with the Egyptian Tax Authority and tax audits
Strong knowledge of Egyptian tax laws and practical application
Good command of Excel and accounting systems (ERP knowledge is an advantage)
Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
High level of accuracy, integrity, and ability to work under pressure
