Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Head of Trading Strategy & Operations to oversee and strengthen the operational and strategic infrastructure supporting the firm's trading activities across base metals, commodities, equities, and derivatives markets. The role combines trading operations leadership with close involvement in market analysis, trading strategy coordination, execution oversight, and risk-focused operational management. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership and trading stakeholders to ensure efficient execution, disciplined operational governance, and alignment between market positioning, hedging activity, liquidity management, and overall trading objectives. This position is suited to an individual with strong operational expertise, commercial acumen, and a sophisticated understanding of global base metals and commodity markets within fast-moving trading environments.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead and oversee trading operations across physical base metals, commodity derivatives, and equities activities.

•Manage the end-to-end trade lifecycle including trade capture, confirmations, settlements, reconciliations, and operational controls.

•Support execution oversight, market positioning coordination, and trading strategy implementation across the desk.

•Monitor market developments, trading exposures, liquidity conditions, and operational impacts relevant to trading activities.

•Coordinate physical pricing and hedge alignment across base metals and commodity trading activities.

•Manage relationships with brokers, FCMs, banks, exchanges, and trading counterparties.

•Supervise margin, collateral, funding, and liquidity management processes.

•Oversee operational reporting including exposures, MTM, P&L support, and trading control frameworks.

•Drive process improvement, automation initiatives, and operational scalability across the trading platform.

•Build and lead a high-performing trading operations team with strong accountability and governance standards.

•Ensure robust operational risk controls and institutional best practices are maintained across all trading activities.

Candidate Profile

•10+ years of experience within commodity trading, derivatives operations, trading strategy support, or trading desk management environments.

•Strong experience and understanding of base metals markets, commodity derivatives, and physical-to-paper hedging dynamics.

•Demonstrated experience supporting or operating within base metals trading environments is essential.

•Strong understanding of futures, options, OTC products, exchange-traded instruments, and market structure.

•Demonstrated ability to operate closely alongside senior trading stakeholders within active trading environments.

•Strong commercial judgment with the ability to interpret market developments, trading risks, and execution considerations.

•Experience within commodity trading houses, investment banks, hedge funds, brokers, or FCMs preferred.
