Job: Head of Year KS4

Employer: British International School, Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Start date: 12th August 2026

Annual Tax-Free Salary: £34,500 - £40,000 +Benefits including housing, flight allowance, medical and gratuity (worth over £15,000)

Contract: Full-time, fixed term for 2 years

Aston Education is working with a thriving and vibrant British international school in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. They are looking for a full-time Head of Year KS4 to start in August 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for a KS4 experienced teacher or middle leader to lead the pastoral care and wellbeing of Year 10 and Year 11 students (8 form groups) including attendance, punctuality, behaviour, and wellbeing.

The job responsibilities include:

As a Head of Year, you'll promote high academic expectations for all students within Year 10 and Year 11 and monitor the academic progress of students across subjects using assessment data and progress tracking systems.

You'll identify underachievement within Year 10 and Year 11 and coordinate appropriate interventions in collaboration with teachers, department leaders, and the leadership team.

You'll take primary responsibility for the pastoral care and wellbeing of students within Year 10 and Year 11 and monitor attendance, punctuality, behaviour, and wellbeing. You'll build strong, positive relationships with students and promote a culture of respect, responsibility, and belonging.

Ideally, you'll teach Science, English, Psychology, Humanities or Girls PE and prepare the students for IGCSE and A level exams.

Skills and Qualifications required:

  • PGCE and QTS / QTLS
  • Degree relevant to the subject you teach (Science, English, Psychology, Humanities or PE/Sport)
  • Successful UK teaching experience at KS4 in secondary school level
  • Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum for KS4
  • An outstanding classroom practitioner with an excellent track record of progress and results
  • Proven track record of raising educational standards and achievement
  • Understanding how to analyse and use data effectively
  • Commitment to excellence, inclusivity, and community
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
