Job Description
As an HSE Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and maintaining health, safety, and environmental standards across all construction activities for our new project in Abu Dhabi. You'll conduct risk assessments, inspections, and safety audits, while ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies. By fostering a strong safety culture and providing guidance to site teams, your expertise will help secure a safe and sustainable project execution.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement HSE plans, procedures, and checklists aligned with corporate policies and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments (HIRA, JSA, HAZOP) and recommend control measures to mitigate workplace hazards.
- Perform regular site inspections, audits, and compliance checks to ensure adherence to safety and environmental standards.
- Investigate accidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions; prepare incident reports and corrective/preventive action plans.
- Monitor environmental aspects such as waste management, emissions, and noise control, ensuring compliance with ISO 14001.
- Provide HSE induction and toolbox talks for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Coordinate with project managers and supervisors to enforce permit-to-work systems (confined space, hot work, working at heights).
- Ensure compliance with local labor laws, OSHA, NEBOSH, and ISO 45001 standards.
- Maintain and update HSE records, incident logs, training records, and audit reports.
- Support emergency preparedness drills, evacuation exercises, and fire safety programs.
- Collaborate with HR and Training departments to ensure competency development in safety-critical roles.
- Liaise with external authorities, consultants, and auditors during inspections and certifications.
- Participate in HSE committee meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support sustainability, energy efficiency, and environmental awareness campaigns within the organization
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Chemical)
- HSE-related postgraduate diploma or master's preferred.
- ISO 45001 Lead Auditor and/or ISO 14001 certification preferred.
- First Aid / Firefighting certification is an advantage.
- At least 3+ years of site-based safety implementation experience.
- 3+ years of experience in HSE engineering within construction, oil & gas, or industrial projects.
