Job Description

Job Purpose

The HSE Officer will be responsible to conduct periodic HSE inspection and highlight the HSE observed along with recommended mitigations / solution to the Business Units. In addition to that he/she will provide required technical support to the Business Units in addressing the issues related to HSE and improve the Safety culture at all levels within the organization.

Job Location: Sharjah, United Arab Emirates

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Support in preparing HSE policy, procedures and SOP in compliance to the applicable regulations and best industrial standards.
  • Ensure safe work environment with compliance to ISO and other local safety standards.
  • To ensure the Emergency Response Team (ERT) are identified and trained in accordance to the site's conditions.
  • Ensure the site is in compliance with the latest HSE legislation and to bring to the attention of Head of HSE on any non-compliance.
  • Conduct periodic checks at the site as per applicable checklist and ensure any con-conformities are rectified on timely manner.
  • Ensure timely service of 3rd party maintenance on Fire system and support the BU on certification renewals like certification including Civil Defense, Environment certificate, etc.
  • Ensure all HSE related document (forms and records) are updated on timely manner and maintained in shared folder.
  • Ensure HSE observations along with recommended mitigations are communicated to the concerned and follow-up done until closure.
  • Ensure all accidents and incidents are reported on timely manner and through investigation are done to have an effective corrective / preventive action implemented.
  • Conduct emergency response drills and ensure the highest level of preparedness in any emergency.
  • Prepare Job Hazard Analysis and assist in effective implementation of the suitable mitigations.
  • Issue work permits as and when needed and ensure and ensure contractors safety are well managed.
  • Conduct HSE induction / HSE trainings are done for new staff, visitor's and contract workers as and when required.
  • Ensure the use of adequate PPE by the staff at the site.
  • Assist with the rehabilitation of workers after accidents or injuries and make sure they experience a satisfactory return to work.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly HSE reports, statistics and HSE dashboard periodically.
  • Ensure adequate Security System are maintained at all locations of the company.

Experience & Education

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in similar role in manufacturing or factory environment
  • Bachelor of Engineering

Required Skills

  • Able to read and interpret HSE code of practice
  • Computer Skills include command on Microsoft Windows MS Office
  • Good Labor Management, Supervision, Training, & Team Building skills
  • Multi Ligulas preferred
  • Skilled in developing and implementing the ISO 14001 and 45001 management system at the corporate level.

Required Training/Certifications (If any)

  • Certified / Trained in advance First aider and Fire fighter.
  • NEBOSH IGC (International general certification)
  • Knowledge on ISO 14001/45001 implementation is a must
  • Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment in added advantage
  • Knowledge on Chemical Risk and safe storage method is added advantage
