Job Description

Job Purpose: -

The Healthcare NET (HNET) Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day operation, monitoring and management of the Healthcare NET connectivity platform that links healthcare entities together. The platform delivers connectivity over a dual MPLS and SD-WAN infrastructure to connected healthcare entities, enabling secure, encrypted access to published applications and bi-directional integration between entity and central resources. The Specialist ensures high availability, performance and security of the network in line with agreed SLAs and a Secure by Design operating model, and provides the monitoring, reporting and incident response required to sustain the service as the number of connected entities grows.

Primary Responsibilities: -

  • Operate, monitor and maintain the Healthcare NET (HNET) MPLS and SD-WAN network connecting healthcare entities into a central location, meeting agreed SLA and uptime commitments.
  • Manage the SD-WAN environment, comprising two NSGs in an Active/Active configuration with PPPoE WAN connectivity to Enterprise, maintaining redundancy and failover.
  • Administer the MPLS Managed Router, learning subnets from the LAN BGP neighbour and advertising the routes to participating entities over the MPLS.
  • Configure, manage and troubleshoot Cisco ASA firewalls, including rule administration and enforcement of the Secure by Design model that prevents any traffic between hubs over SD-WAN.
  • Ensure encryption of all data in transit and maintain the required security controls across Healthcare NET links.
  • Maintain connectivity for published-application flows and bi-directional access between Entity and central location resources, supporting the multiple active integrations across MPLS and SD-WAN.
  • Manage per-site bandwidth and public IP allocations (1 GB MPLS; SD-WAN 1 Gbps access / 100 Mbps port; 1 x /28 standard and 1 x /27 add-on public subnets).
  • Monitor Cloud DDoS protection, respond to DDoS alert notifications and provide mitigation updates to stakeholders.
  • Perform capacity and availability monitoring and produce network performance, incident and compliance reporting, including bandwidth-trigger alerts, in line with SLA commitments.
  • Use Tenable to perform vulnerability management and continuous security-posture monitoring across the Healthcare NET estate.
  • Support onboarding of new healthcare entities and capacity planning for growth and maintain up-to-date network topology diagrams and operational documentation for the MPLS and SD-WAN infrastructure.

Skills / Certifications: -

  • Hands-on expertise in MPLS and SD-WAN operations, including Active/Active NSG deployments, PPPoE WAN and BGP routing (route learning and advertisement).
  • Mandatory hands-on experience administering Cisco ASA firewalls.
  • Mandatory experience with Tenable for vulnerability management.
  • Strong routing and switching skills and a working understanding of Cloud DDoS protection and mitigation.
  • Experience with network monitoring, capacity / availability management and SLA-based performance and incident reporting.
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNP / CCNA (Routing & Switching or Security) and an SD-WAN vendor certification; a Tenable certification is an advantage.

Minimum Work Experience: -

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in enterprise or managed-service network operations, including hands-on management of MPLS, SD-WAN and firewall environments. Experience supporting healthcare or government networks is preferred.

Education : -

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Network Engineering or a related field
