Summary
The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and overhauls on heavy equipment, vehicles, and machinery. The ideal candidate should have a strong mechanical aptitude, a thorough understanding of heavy equipment systems, and the ability to troubleshoot and solve complex mechanical issues.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections and routine maintenance on a variety of heavy equipment, including articulated dump trucks, bulldozers, excavators, wheel loaders, graders, light & heavy vehicle, but not limited.
- Diagnose mechanical, and hydraulic problems and develop effective solutions to address them.
- Perform repairs and replacements on faulty components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, hydraulic, but not limited.
- Overhaul engines and major components, ensuring they meet manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and software to identify and rectify technical issues efficiently is a plus.
- Keep line manager &/or supervisor updated on details of maintenance and repair work performed, including parts used, and the nature of the work.
- Adhere to safety protocols and ensure compliance with environmental and occupational health regulations. Zero tolerance.
- Collaborate with other team members to share knowledge, troubleshoot complex problems, and optimize repair process.
- Proven experience as a Heavy Mechanic, with a demonstrated track record of successfully diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work systematically to identify issues and implement solutions.
- Physical fitness and dexterity to handle heavy machinery components and perform tasks in various weather conditions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a formal technical training program or apprenticeship in heavy equipment mechanics is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues clearly to team members and clients.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to operate heavy equipment for testing and diagnostics is a plus.
