General Description
A Hospital Sales Representative is responsible to facilitate sales transactions by advising health care professionals on suitable products that best meet their needs and encourage purchases by explaining the product features and benefits for the consumers.
As they are the main link between the distributor and the clients, a Hospital Sales Representative creates meaningful, measurable connections and experiences with health care professionals in hospitals, clinics, and surgeries to support revenue growth and sales strategy.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Build and drive trustworthy working relationships with health care professionals in hospitals, clinics, and surgeries by understanding their needs and recommending customized products & treatments.
- Achieve monthly sales targets and qualitative, and quantitative objectives set by the Manager.
- Visit health care professionals in hospitals, clinics, and surgeries to introduce the brand with medical detailing and provide supporting technical / scientific documentation to encourage prescriptions.
- Conduct appointments (pre-arranged or âcold callingâ), roundtables, conferences, and events for health care professionals in hospitals, clinics, and surgeries.
- Make presentations to doctors, practice staff and nurses in GP surgeries, hospital doctors and pharmacists in the retail sector. Presentations may take place in medical settings during the day or may be conducted in the evenings at a local hotel or conference venue.
- Identify emerging markets and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and competition status.
- Regularly attending company meetings, technical data presentations and briefings.
- Plan work schedules and weekly and monthly timetables. This may involve working with the area sales team or discussing future targets with the area sales manager.
- Maintain good knowledge of new developments in the Ministry of Health (MOPH), anticipating potential negative and positive impacts on the business and adapting strategy accordingly.
- Keep detailed records of all contacts.

- Proven work experience as a Hospital Sales Representative in a related field.
- Medical knowledge.
- Commercial and business awareness.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Ability to deal with people who hold differing beliefs or values in an outgoing and persuasive manner.
- Ability to work in a flexible environment and to adapt to changes quickly.
