Key duties and Responsibilities
Talent Management and Acquisition
- Partner with construction leadership to define staffing requirements and talent acquisition strategies.
- Manage the recruitment lifecycle for construction related positions ensuring timely and quality hires to meet project timelines.
- Assist in workforce planning ensuring that the construction team is adequately staffed with the right skill sets for current and future projects.
- Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates to fill critical construction roles.
Employee Development and Training
- Identify training needs specific to the construction team and work with the Learning & Development team to provide targeted training programs.
- Support leadership development for site managers and other senior roles to enhance team management and leadership capabilities.
- Ensure continuous learning and skill-building within the team, particularly with regard to new construction methods, safety protocols and industry standards.
Performance Management
- Collaborate with construction managers to develop and implement performance management systems that support project timelines and goals.
- Monitor and evaluate employee performance, providing coaching and feedback to improve productivity and teamwork on construction sites.
- Support the implementation of improvement plans for underperforming employees and ensure performance reviews are aligned with project milestones.
Employee Engagement and Retention
- Design and implement employee engagement initiatives tailored to the unique needs of construction teams.
- Address employee concerns and provide solutions to improve job satisfaction and morale, especially during peak project phases.
- Work closely with management to enhance retention strategies and reduce turnover ensuring a motivated and skilled workforce.
Workforce Planning
- Oversee workforce planning to ensure that construction projects are adequately staffed and that project deadlines are met.
- Act as an advisor to site managers on labor laws and regulations ensuring compliance with local labor codes and health and safety standards.
Safety and Compliance
- Collaborate with safety officers to ensure that HR policies are in line with safety protocols on construction sites.
- Ensure that all employees are compliant with construction site regulations including health and safety practices and report any concerns to the management team.
- Assist in driving safety training and ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
Change Management
- Support the construction team through organizational changes or project shifts ensuring employees adapt smoothly to changes in roles, project assignments or site relocations.
- Provide guidance and support during transitions or restructuring efforts related to construction teams.
HR Analytics and Reporting
- Track and report on key HR metrics (e.g., turnover, employee engagement, recruitment progress) for construction teams.
- Analyze trends in labor shortages, skill gaps and employee turnover to inform HR and improve workforce planning.
- Provide regular reports and insights to management on HR related construction matters.
Other Tasks and Accountabilities
Perform additional tasks relevant to the role / area of expertise as requested by the management to be able to achieve the objectives/commitments
Position Requirements
Work Experience
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in a similar role
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or a related field
Skills/Behaviour Attributes
- Strong strategic partnership and business acumen to align HR with organizational goals.
- Excellent knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws and workforce planning.
- Proven ability to resolve complex HR issues, drive organizational change and support leadership development.
- Strong influencing and consulting skills.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
