Job Description

Job Purpose

The Zebra Child & Youth Advocacy Centre is seeking a knowledgeable, sensitive and engaging Indigenous Engagement Navigator to build bridges, strengthen relationships and develop pathways to the Zebra Centre. Reporting to the Manager, Multi- Disciplinary Team, the Indigenous Engagement Navigator will grow and strengthen relationships with surrounding Indigenous communities, collaboratively building bridges to access Zebra Centre services and supports. This position is currently being funded through a grant from the Edmonton Community Foundation and will just be a one-year contract to start. However, our intention is to secure funding to allow the position to become a permanent member of our team. This position is based in the Zebra Centre at 14325 112 Ave NW.

Education, Experience And Requirements

  • Finalize tailored educational and support materials for Indigenous Communities as well

as children, youth and caregivers navigating the various systems supporting Indigenous

victims of abuse.

  • Coordinate and facilitate training sessions to a pilot group, likely an Indigenous

community with an existing relationship.

  • Implement processes and systems developed to support Indigenous families through

investigating abuse, navigating the justice system and connecting with healing supports.

Working Conditions

It is a flexible, full-time schedule working 36.25 hours per week, Monday – Friday, with evening and weekends as needed. Please note we work with accredited facility dogs on-site.
