Role Description
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Industrial Designer with 35 years of experience, specializing in concrete furniture design, to join our team on a remote, contract basis. You will be responsible for designing innovative, functional, and aesthetically strong concrete furniture products, focusing on manufacturability, durability, and production feasibility. The role involves taking concepts from sketches to 3D models, prototypes, and final production while collaborating closely with engineering, production, and management teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop original concrete furniture concepts, sketches, and design proposals
- Create 2D/3D models, technical drawings, and photorealistic renderings
- Build and test concrete furniture prototypes to validate design concepts
- Produce photorealistic 3D renders and professional digital catalogs to effectively showcase our concrete furniture products for marketing and client presentations.
- Apply design thinking to solve functional, ergonomic, and manufacturing challenges
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and suppliers
- Ensure designs meet aesthetic, functional, cost, and manufacturability requirements
- Support material selection, finishes, and production processes specific to concrete furniture
- Revise and improve designs based on feedback, testing, and production constraints
- Assist in preparing documentation for manufacturing and suppliers
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or related field
- 35 years of experience in industrial/product design, with strong concrete furniture design experience
- Proficiency in CAD and 3D modeling software (SolidWorks, Rhino, Fusion 360, AutoCAD)
- Experience with prototyping methods and concrete materials
- Expert proficiency in V-Ray, Keyshot
- Advanced competency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) for concepting, presentation development, and visual communication
- Solid understanding of furniture manufacturing processes, particularly for concrete
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
