PURPOSE OF WORK
To provide engineering/other supplemental support to the Industrial Hygiene program to ensure compliance with SAMREF standards and government regulations with aim to protect employee health and safety.
REGULAR ASSIGNED DUTIES:
- Implement Occupational health and safety as the highest priority in performing duties, responsibilities, also ensure strict compliance with rules, regulations and procedures as being essential to safety, and Implement the Industrial Hygiene overall Program.
- Assist in developing Industrial Hygiene procedures.
- Conduct a comprehensive Industrial Hygiene field survey for all potential hazards in the workplace. Coordinate any outside consultation assistance needs, and analyze the results of the Industrial Hygiene survey to ensure compliance with establish Industrial Hygiene standards.
- Review and evaluate the specifications of required industrial hygiene equipment.
- Assist in evaluating the Occupational health hazards in the workplace and determine the effect of the exposures on the employees. In addition, establish and document a historical record of all exposures levels in the workplace.
- Implement the Radiation Protection Program and coordinate/conduct the required tests and surveys.
- Assist in developing corrective action plans to control any unacceptable exposures as an outcome of exposure assessment strategy.
- Develop required exposure control methods and/or recommend personal protective equipment to eliminate or minimize the Occupational hazards.
- Conduct training programs for potential occupational health hazard, radiation safety, chemical hazards communication, respiratory protection, hearing conservation and other Industrial Hygiene subjects.
- Coordinate with Medical department the implementation of employees Medical Surveillance program.
- Assist the unit supervisor in overseeing the chemical awareness / Respiratory Protection / Radiation Protection Programs to eliminate or minimize the potential health hazards.
- Review all new projects/modification changes and conduct occupational hazards analysis to ensure implementation of the required Industrial Hygiene standards.
- Assist in auditing the compliance of SAMREF's employees and management against Industrial Hygiene policy and standards.
- Update refinery chemical list periodically and ensure compliance to hazard communication program.
- Maintain Industrial Hygiene lab equipment, inspect and calibrate all equipment to ensure its readiness.
- Perform any assignment requested by Industrial Hygiene Supervisor and/or SHE Manager.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor degree (or higher) in Industrial Hygiene or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
More than 5 years of related experiences.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:
- Good Refinery/Petrochemical related safety, health, chemical and Physical hazards knowledge.
- Ability to analyze and interpret technical procedures and regulation.
- The position requires a high degree of specialized knowledge in Industrial Hygiene.
