Job Description

Job Purpose:

Manage and coordinate the hospital's infection prevention and control program to minimize the risk of healthcare-associated infections, ensuring a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff and supporting the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care across all hospital departments and specialties.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive organizational risk assessments to identify potential internal and external infection risks. This includes evaluating the likelihood and impact of various hazards to prioritize areas of focus for the annual infection prevention and control (IPC) plan.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate evidence-based infection prevention and control programs.
  • Carry out relevant investigations, audits, and projects to monitor and report on healthcare-associated infections.
  • Support patients by making ethical and prompt decisions regarding infection prevention and control.
  • Participate as a member of the multidisciplinary Infection Control team in developing, revising, and implementing evidence-based policies and guidelines.
  • Maintain and demonstrate clinical competence by using evidence-based practices in all aspects of patient and staff care involving infection prevention and control.
  • Provide resources, expert advice, and education to all levels of the team, patients, and visitors to create a healthy and safe environment.
  • Prioritize workloads and schedules, acting as a resource for other teams, especially infection link staff.
  • Prepare monthly statistics and other reports on Infection Prevention and Control.
  • Effectively communicate all necessary information to the line manager and the Chair of the Infection Control Committee.
  • Undertake additional tasks as appropriate with regard to Infection Prevention and Control.
  • Liaise with the appropriate committee or team to evaluate and reduce the risk of infection associated with construction, renovation, and demolition projects.
  • Participate in the evaluation of Infection Control products.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate notification of reportable communicable diseases to the Preventive Medicine Department.
  • Conduct regular visits to patient care areas, other high-risk hospital environments, and food service areas.
  • Review and update the Infection Prevention and Control program and policies.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree / Nursing/Infection Control/Public Health or any other health science areas.
  • Master's/ Nursing/ Infection Control/ Microbiology/ Public Health/ Epidemiology.
  • Certification or Diploma in Infection Prevention Control.
  • License / Healthcare Field (Physician/ Registered Nurse/Allied Health).

Experience Requirements:

  • 3 years in Infection Prevention and Control.
  • 2 years in Professional experience in a healthcare setting. This includes clinical practice, nursing, public health, allied health or related fields.
