We are seeking an experienced and highly qualified Consultant Physician – Infectious Diseases to join a leading healthcare facility in Dubai, UAE. The successful candidate will provide expert care for patients with complex infectious conditions, lead antimicrobial stewardship initiatives, strengthen infection prevention programs, and support the highest standards of patient safety and clinical excellence.
This position plays a vital role in managing communicable diseases, healthcare-associated infections, emerging infectious threats, and infection-related complications while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care & Patient Management
- Diagnose, evaluate, and manage a broad spectrum of infectious diseases in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Provide specialist care for complex infections, including:
- Sepsis
- HIV/AIDS
- Tuberculosis (TB)
- Viral Hepatitis
- Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs)
- Hospital-acquired infections (HAIs)
- Emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases
- Deliver expert consultations for immunocompromised patients, critically ill patients, and complex antimicrobial management cases.
- Review laboratory results, microbiology cultures, antimicrobial sensitivity reports, imaging studies, and clinical progress to develop evidence-based treatment plans.
Infection Prevention & Control
- Lead and support hospital-wide infection prevention and control initiatives.
- Develop, implement, and monitor infection control policies, isolation protocols, and surveillance programs.
- Participate in outbreak investigations, containment planning, contact tracing activities, and infection reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with infection control standards across inpatient units, ICUs, procedural areas, and outpatient services.
Antimicrobial Stewardship
- Lead antimicrobial stewardship programs to optimize antibiotic utilization and minimize antimicrobial resistance.
- Provide expert guidance on antimicrobial prescribing practices and treatment optimization.
- Collaborate with pharmacy, microbiology, and clinical teams to promote responsible antimicrobial use.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
- Work closely with Intensive Care, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Microbiology, Pharmacy, Public Health, Nursing, and other specialty teams.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and clinical decision-making for complex infectious disease cases.
- Support hospital governance, quality improvement initiatives, and patient safety programs.
Education, Research & Quality Improvement
- Educate and mentor physicians, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals on infection prevention, antimicrobial stewardship, and emerging infectious diseases.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement projects, morbidity and mortality reviews, and policy development activities.
- Stay current with international infectious disease guidelines, public health recommendations, and evolving treatment standards.
- Contribute to research, professional development, and continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, consultation reports, treatment recommendations, and follow-up plans.
- Ensure compliance with UAE healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and hospital policies.
- Support MOHAP regulatory requirements and licensing standards where applicable.
Qualifications & Requirements
- MBBS, MD, or equivalent medical qualification from a recognized institution.
- Board Certification / CCT / American Board / Canadian Board / Equivalent Specialist Qualification in Infectious Diseases.
- Minimum 5 years of experience practicing as a Consultant in Infectious Diseases.

- Outbreak response and surveillance
- Care of immunocompromised and critically ill patients
- Strong leadership, clinical judgment, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, teaching, documentation, and multidisciplinary collaboration abilities.
- Experience in multicultural healthcare environments is highly preferred.
