We are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer with strong Linux administration expertise and a solid background in programming and configuration management to join our team in Cairo Egypt.
In this role, you will contribute to key projects, handle escalated critical issues, and collaborate closely with internal customers, teams, and stakeholders to deliver reliable and scalable systems.
This is a contract based role.
Responsibilities:
- Administer, maintain, and optimize large-scale Linux environments, ensuring high levels of reliability, performance, security, and scalability.
- Design, implement, and manage system configurations using Puppet or similar tools, while developing scripts to automate system administration and OS provisioning.
- Contribute to infrastructure and security initiatives, including endpoint management, vulnerability patching, and compliance reporting (e.g., via Tanium).
- Support incident management, Level 3 escalations, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, effectively communicating system status, risks, and improvements.
- Contribute to documentation, standards, and best practices to support consistent and scalable operations.
Required experience/skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (or equivalent experience), with 3+ years in IT infrastructure/systems engineering focused on Linux (RHEL, SUSE, Ubuntu, etc.).
- Strong hands-on experience with Linux administration, configuration management tools (Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Salt), and scripting/programming (Python, Bash, Ruby, Go).
- Solid understanding of system architecture, networking, and security principles, with proven problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience leading smaller projects or workstreams, with the ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and operate in fast-paced environments.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders and mentor junior team members.
- Exposure to CI/CD and automation tools (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins) is a plus.
- Familiarity with Tanium for endpoint management and vulnerability assessment is preferred.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and relevant certifications (RHCSA, RHCE) are a plus.
